Author Commentary:
- Bet you guys didn't see this coming. Lance never touched my pokemon. I didn't lose a single health point this whole battle.
So let's go into strategy. I knew while training that I couldn't heal which meant that I needed to do two very important things to get to Gary (because I am in it to win it)
1) End battles as quickly as possible to minimize damage taken and 2) make sure at least 4 of my 6 pokemon can take on any given Elite Four member (don't put all your eggs in one basket)
SO I taught Poseidon Ice Beam in case Gilbert got hurt and I taught Arnold Dragon Claw so he could at least take out the Dragonaire and Boomy for the Gyarados and Aerodactyl.
- Leaf is a very mature person. She's one of those people with an old soul. She knows she doesn't need Alexander and she can see that he's happy with Lance and taking him from Lance would be cruel and pointless. But she'll be friends with Lance later on so it's not like she'll never see him again.
- I still can't draw dragon wings to save my life
- Leaf keeps control over Poseidon using somewhat alpha male tactics. As long as he knows he can't get away with disobeying her, he will listen.

When even the elite four don't respect the champion you know theres a problem.
So interesting to see Alexander, once a driving plot element, now not so much. I still remember the page when he came out of the PC, it seemed like such an important thing back then, Leaf getting him back. But now so many other things have happened it's kind of become another event in a long train. Still important in its own way but less of a driving force.

Heh, yeah no one is fond of the little Oak upstart. He's not very good at making friends and too good at making enemies.
Too much has happened for that to be a driving force and Leaf has grown too much. She knows they aren't toys she can displace because she had them first- she just wants them safe now. But it is important to see him doing well. X)

Oh my gosh yay I'm glad no one got hurt and Leaf didn't have to fight Alexander. There wasn't as much of a reaction as I thought there'd be but it makes sense. I love Leaf's reaction to Boomy and Lance's personality and that no one likes Gary.

Yeah! And I considered a dramatic Arnold vs Alexander fight, but that's just now how Leaf or Lance rolls.
And Leaf is too much like her father to get too worked up over Alexander's new trainer.
