Description Introducing The Rosco AP-186 Battle Fist. Harnessing the powers of the Aether and fashioned after the gladiatorial Cestus, this ruthless gauntlet will aggressively destructuralise any large game, general undesirables, or inconveniently placed buildings with a swift jab. The ideal close-combat weapon for any Colonial Commissar or aspiring bar-room pugilist looking to level the playing field... and bloody well everything else within arm's reach.

It's like 40k, Fallout, and six levels of badass collided at high-speed.

Thanks, I hope to do an improved design sometime.

Hmm, do you think it'd be possible to use the disc in armour for larp?

AetherAnvil In reply to CaptainThomas [2012-06-06 02:51:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the disc is fairly sturdy, but the wiring is very sensitive. Since they really are plasma, the high-voltage wiring is sensitive and any exposure can result in tolerable, but mild shock

If you do not rewire it, leave it in its protective plastic housing, then yeah, I highly doubt it will have any problems, just you will have the integrate the entire depth of the whole unit in (couple inches thick with plastic unit, chest armor would work best).

Also, you need to upload some new projects, ha ha

Hehe, I know, but I havenΒ΄t really worked on anything lately. I do plan on making a suit of power armor from Fallout over the summer, though, so I should have something to upload in the not-too-distant future...
Btw, did you ever manage to get you repeater crossbow to work properly?

That is an awesome idea, can not ever have enough Fallout stuff

I managed to shim one section and the repeater works better now, have one more set of shims to make it 100%. Haven't LARP or anything lately, so haven't really worked on it. I need to get around to making another one that uses the IDV bolts that are easier to get.

Thank you very much, that means a lot coming from someone who crafts with your level of detail and attention (your computer and nerf mods are amazing)!!! I hope to make a new version of this sometime that is less of a cestus and more of a gauntlet.

I like the finish you achieve and the darker edges of leather pieces. How are you cutting the brass? Water jet or an incredible amount of hand-work? Very impressive.

AetherAnvil In reply to PrototypeDept [2012-05-23 02:07:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! This piece was done simply compared to others in regards to colouring. The wax that I use naturally darkens the leather, the edges, not being skinned but a more porous layering of fleshy leather, absorbs the wax faster, thus darkening more, which carries into the edges of the surface (holy run-on sentence Batman!).

You will notice that on the other deviant submissions of mine (and hidden behind the title on this one) there is a fair amount of CAD involved. I love to design and pre-plan my work before I commit to it, creates a tidier and more refined overall appearance. As for the cutting, (when I don't do it by hand on a scroll saw), check me out on Facebook for some photos of some archaic and scratch build CNC's that I use.

Also, good luck with your endeavours, I stumbled across you on Steampunk Empire and checked out your site some time ago, looks like you have a good idea and tools to pull it off! Combining CNC, casting, and electronics is always a sure win

Incredible work! The plasma disk reminds me a bit of the mechanical iris' on Subject Delta's glove/arm from BioShock II. [link]

I need to play video games. That iris is a very good idea, it would be a challenging project to get work right, but wow, that would really up the ante.

I don't even have time to play video games any more what with all my other hobbies/interests. I really enjoy the BioShock franchise. Fantastic Dieselpunk and Deco art.

I have not played the series, but I did watch a trailer for the new one, which seems to be VERY steampunk/civilwar style, which is a genre I really do enjoy
