More personal work/ practice. This time featuring my little fluff, Aikseu.

This is a paint over! I'm not particularly good at painting, but I find that having a rough base to paint on top of makes the process a whole lot easier. I did this kinda on a whim, I just had a rough sketch open in SAI and decided to make some use of it.
This is my rough base:

I think it ended up pretty nice. Most of the painting was done on one layer, with the exception of the mouth and eye. I kept the use of multiply and overlay layers extremely minimal- they're my go-to when I do shading normally. Another one of my main flaws when it comes to painting is that I have a huge affinity for keeping things super smoothed. It worked out for this little icon, but in the future I think I would benefit from learning for to use rougher brushes and textures..

This icon ended up being a 'revamp' of a sort of an older piece of mine:

... whenever I look back at this 'era' of my art, I kinda miss the orange-purple overlay I used to do.
