Personal work~♥ A bust of my poor underdrawn 'sona, Aikseu.also lame title is lame
Experiment time! Havent experimented enough lately. This is pseudo-lineless, no lineart, but there is underlying sketchwork. I decided I wanted a banner of a sort, came up with this. Not really a very good banner, but I can edit into one so it works for me :v
I'm pretty darn happy with this ♥ A lot of mirroring/cheating but meh. I couldn't be bothered to not cheat. I know the edges aren't real pretty and it's a little off in some parts of the fur. Also couldn't be bothered to fix. Spent at least 7 hours on it, and almost all in one sitting with the exception of the original sketch (which took probably 2 hours), so I was pretty burnt out by the time I noticed those things.
But I'm still happy. Havent draw Aik in a while, she deserves much more love than I give her. Which is probably why she's so angryfaced here~ I have to finish her ref soon :v And draw her everyday all day all the time.

If you don't mind me asking, I'm curious, what aspects were done is SAI, and which in photoshop? And which program do you prefer?

I don't mind at all~
It's like, 99.9% done in SAI haha. Photoshop was used only for a couple filters/effects (sharpen, inner glow, and outer glow).
I definitely prefer to use SAI. I used to use photoshop a lot, but now I can't draw at all it in

Do you know if it's possible to get SAI for free at all? And if not, is there a free art programme you would personally recommend? I have photoshop and it serves me well, but from what I've heard, SAI definitely seems better for general arting, though I'm not 100% sure why!

I believe you can get a timed trial of SAI for free, but I'm not completely sure. Nothing free I know of comes close to the quality that SAI offers. It's really worth buying though c: It's not as expensive as photoshop- it's around 60$ usd last time I checked.
SAI is regarded as better because of the qualities of the brushes, primarily. It is extremely good for blending and painting. It also has brush stabilizers that help make things smooth and pretty, which is what I love the most about it c: It's also a very lightweight program, runs very smoothly, and crashes minimally.

Aw, man, that sounds like exactly the areas that photoshop is currently frustrating me with. especially the lines bit, mine always come out wobbly and ragged and bleh. I don't think I can personally go spending £40ish on an art programme though (my old copy of photoshop is one I just kind'a got given by someone one day.)
Blending and painterly stuff and smooth lines are all incredibly appealing though...

I find things with muzzles always hard to draw front-faced, but you definitely did a marvellous job at it! It looks amazing!
The character also looks very neat! Maybe you should draw her more often ^^

c: Thanks! Front views are always the trickiest to do, but I think that's what makes them interesting~ Its even harder with fantasy creatures like this one heh, no real life references to look at
