Description
EDIT: Here's one of my recent base mare turn arounds if anypony's interested: [link]Season 3, Episode 9 "Spike at Your Service" had quite a few side profile views of ponies. I took screenshots to use them as references, and digitally drew construction lines to learn proportions. This episode even had a 3/4 away head view! I had trouble drawing that; now I have another reference to learn from.
I believe my current pony structure is pretty close to the show's style. I'm still refining my method a bit, but I'm almost there.
In case the measurements are a little hard to read, I'll post them here too:
HEAD:
Muzzle:
When placing the muzzle, I divided the lower left quadrant of the circle into 2 equal pieces. I then divided the upper half of that division into 2 equal pieces. (I guess I could've just said to divide that quadrant into quarters ) The length of the muzzle is 1/2 the length of the guideline used to place the muzzle.
Mouth:
To place the actual mouth, I drew a guide circle; I determined the size of the mouth's guide circle using the length of the muzzle and the head's guide circle.
Eyes:
The top of the eye is at the head's 1/4 mark. The bottom of the eye is at the head's 7/8 mark.
Ears:
The front of the ear starts just a little closer to the face than the 1/2 guideline used for ear placement in that quadrant. The back of the ear connects to the head just above the head's horizontal 1/2 mark.
Unicorn Horn:
The horn is about 1/4 of a head thick at the base. It's length is just a bit LESS than the length of the guideline used for the horn's placement. The guideline divides that quadrant into 2 equal pieces.
BODY:
The body is about 2/3 of a head in height from the base of the jaw to the belly/bottom of the neck.
Neck:
The neck is just a hair UNDER 1/2 of a head thick.
Flank:
The body after the neck is just a hair OVER 1/2 of a head in length.
Legs (fore and hind):
Legs are ABOUT 1/2 of a head thick at the hoof, and are 1 head in length.
Pegasus Wings:
Wings are attached at the joint drawn in CYAN. When the wing is closed, it is usually at a bit of an angle and usually points towards the tail.
I don't have too many tips for drawing an open pegasus wing; I'm still learning how to do that. My current skill level with pegasus wings is okay, but not stellar, as seen in my rough sketch in this piece.
I'll keep practicing and drawing studies to refine my skills. I've definitely gotten better, but I still have plenty to learn.
Yes Twilight, studying!

Always happy to help. These proportions are good, but the forms feel a bit off to me.

Is it okay if I use this as a traced base? I'm good with ponies (atleast, in my style) but not very good in the original style.

You certainly may, though I think this is a little off personally.

Oh, I doubt that you're "the worst" at drawing ponies.
Doodling is a great way to practice, or to just have fun. When I'm not drawing full pictures, I'll just doodle 'till I get an idea. ^_^

Some things are a little off in this old structure guide, but I hope it gives you a nice jump start. It took me so much time to put a good method together. I wanted to share my notes in hopes that they would help others learn faster than I did. It looks like they're doing just that!

That's my old method that used to help me, but has softened my brain to a near-pudding state as a result of being overly complex. I've simplified and re-worked my pony drawing method and plan on sharing it in the near future.
