I didn't think the bullies had names. Β And I don't think High Score is that much of a stretch. Β I mean, High Score suggests some kind of recreational game outside of the athletic circle. Β An escapist fantasy setting, most likely. Β And that is something introverts are generally interested in, yes?

Being an escapist introvert myself: no, not at all.
I don't like "high-score" focused games, arcade games or senseless "beat-em-ups". I'm all about the substance: the story.
A score is just that: a score.
When you break it you get an incredibly brief moment of satisfaction, followed with emptiness and a need to feel that rush again.
Also from the kinds of games it's been hinted at by the pilot episode, Button plays RPG games a lot as only a real RPG gamer would stay up the whole night just to play out a story.
And yes: Button Mash is a lean towards arcade and "beat-em-ups" but these days there's countless moments in RPG's where rapidly smashing the attack button is the only way to survive an encounter (like say with an elite enemy several levels above you and the only way you're going to survive is if you constantly stun him with your weak primary attack)

I'm an introvert myself. Β I always aimed for the computer high scores, being a console gamer. Β Then I'd go for /that/ score. Β And then /that/ score. Β And so on, and so for. Β You want to beat high scores because it's fun. Β Either that, or you move onto the next game and do so there, if it was available. Β And high scores don't always have to mean a literal high score. Β It could refer to how well you play the game, like said RPGs.
Button Mash's "countless moments in RPGs" are all fan-derivative and have no baring in the canon MLP universe. Β His lone appearance is in Hearts & Hooves day playing an arcade machine. Β We can't really assume anything about his real personality. Β Just what the fans are projecting. Β Who knows? Β Maybe he's actually a bully?
