Description
A portrait of my friend Koki, a cockatiel , on an eucalyptus tree branch. He is 23 years old and still quite lively. I took a lot of liberties in rendering the background - in impressionistic style, but I kind of like it as it provides a contrast to a more controlled rendering of the bird.

- Medium: oil on W&N Winton oil color paper (22.9 x 30.5 cm / 9 x 12 in)
Experimenting again with a new medium. I really liked painting in oils, but the turpentine-based solvent was horrific (in terms of health). I'll use odorless white spirit-based medium for the next project. Sadly the photo doesn't do justice to the original image. Perhaps I'll scan the painting once it's completely dry (in a few months).
