I wish I had this superpower, only with a giant set of robotic biting teeth, that would leap out and bite any random person commanding me to smile, while I'm out innocently birdwatching and disturbing no-one. Why do people expect one to wear a smile at all times? I would feel utterly ridiculous, walking around with a big, stupid grin plastered on. And those little half-smiles just make a person look snidey. I like my neutral expression, and am sticking with it.

Because being a woman means one is the world's little monkey, and our job is to look nice and entertain people and not be offensive. I suppose I deserve it for adding my parents as facebook friends, but now I get regular lectures about being too crass, swearing too much, being too much of a party girl, and negative comments on all the generally unfeminine things I do... :\

My mother is visiting next week, so I'm sure I will hear a lot of the same (with the exception of the partying bit; I'm a total bore...ha, ha!). Fortunately, she doesn't know about Facebook. And I hope she never finds out!
