Description Hopped up on some more Beach Boys music (it is summer after all!), I finally got around to coloring a WIP!

Anyway, I got to use a background paste with this one, so I feel lik I'm still advancing in the field of comp coloring (it still is fr from perfect of course). I wanted to get th yellow/gold pattern down this time more in homage to the Beach Boys' "Sounds of Summer" album that fueled the whole process. It just also happens to coincide with Goof's uniform for the gals! Happy coincidence!

Inspiration belongs to the Beach Boys. Kickline and its characters belong to me. So does the artwork.

Comments and suggestions welcome. Enjoy!

Thanks so much, Andy! The car was an interesting one to design, and the gals' poses just seemed more cheerful here thanks to the color.

Awesome summertime picture. Really puts me in the mood. Too bad the weather has been so crappy here this past week, be it rain or just plain old humidity.

I hear ya, after a row of sticky hot weather we get sporadic buckets of rain! Nonetheless, summer can't be all bad and I hope we can all enjoy a bit of it Thanks a lot, Shane!

The Beach Boys' music gives me some kind of crazy inspiration, this has to at least be the fifth one I've done by them. Thanks a lot for the comment, pal!

Always a bummer why I can't find THESE sort of gals on any other beaches abroad XP

Looks and feels orsum, though. Very good work with the colours here, notably for the car.

For me it's usually the early 60s, but the Beach Boys stuff took liberally from the 50s doo-wop groups. Thanks so much for the support!

Lovin' the summery vibe here, and the girls (and guy) are all looking as fab as ever, not to mention laid back. Solid rendition of the very retro motor, as well.

Nice one, I do like the colours?
But I have to ask: how are you doing these? Traditional ink and then scan/colour? If so might I suggest scanning at a higher dpi? It's what I did when I first started computer colouring and it just ups the quality and make everything look smoother.
Regardless, I'm liking the progress you're making so far!

AgentC-24 In reply to professorfandango [2010-07-12 02:19:39 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot for the comment, pal.

Yeah, I use ink sketches, then scan and upload them to GIMP. I'm not quite sure what a higher dpi is actually, so if you could elaborate a bit, I'd really appreciate it!

Again, thanks a lot for the input, I'm always looking for ways to improve, especially on the computer.

professorfandango In reply to AgentC-24 [2010-07-12 11:19:49 +0000 UTC]

I believe dpi is Dots Per Inch, it might also be shown as ppi (Pixels Per Inch) and a higher dpi just means it scans in at a larger size but if you colour it when it's large and scale it back down again it will be of a higher quality. You should be able to change the dpi when you scan an image and I find that 300 is a useful value to use.
Best of luck!
