The Golden City of Xom is an authoritarian, hyper-militaristic city-state that has risen to dominate the arid, palm-laden regions of northwestern Oru. In fact, though it has taken the better part of two full centuries, Xom has become a powerful fledgling empire in its own right - the most powerful human nation of the West.
Their armies are the envy of the civilized world - disciplined, well-outfitted, and utterly professional. Such a potent military force has been honed at the edge of a blade; Xom and their fellow Westermen have been fighting for their right to exist for untold generations, beset on all sides by savage barbarians, monstrous raiders, and looming incursions of the sinister Imperium. This infinite crucible of vigilance and bloody warfare has laid the very foundation of their militaristic society, driven by a rigid, brutally efficient caste system that is a religion unto itself. Every Xomite, from peon to citizen to Highborn, is grim and insular to the core, and unnaturally content, even devoted, to their place in a greater design. They see all other human societies as inferior, soft and innately weak - and they harbor a strangely stoic, near-religious hatred for the world's inhuman races, woven into their psyches from birth.
