One of these is a great plane, the other is the F-35.

"Stealth Formation"
But they're carrying their weapons externally.

Beginning to think I should have called it "Unstealthy Formation"! They are both commonly called stealth aircraft, they just happen to be demonstrating their load capability under situations which don't require the lowest possible radar signature.

Call it 5th gen formation.

I'll let the Raptor handle the A2A combat, the F-35 can take care of any ground targets!

Ok one question did Microsoft really screw up both of these aircraft this badly. Right now they are anything but stealth. If I were you I would send Microsoft a complaint about this.

As you can see from the notes I have posed with the image, neither aircraft is created by Microsoft.

The weapons loads on the aircraft are optional & variously variable and are included by my own choice for interest, but yes, I could have thought of a better title

All I am saying is in real life these two fighters don't have their weapons on their wings. They both have a special weapons compartment inside the aircraft. I have seen the F-22 in person and seen the weapons compartment. That is one way on how they are both able to keep such a good stealth look on radar. I have very strong views on the looks of aircraft and when I see something I know to be wrong I feel the need to point it out so the error can be fixed at some point. You may like this look better but then it takes away from the realism of the aircraft.

In real life the F-22 & all versions of the F-35 carry external weaponry. At the most basic, the F-35B & C versions have an external cannon pod (The cannon is internal on the F-35A)

I've found a few photos to demonstrate the external carriage of weapons on both aircraft:

Here is a photo of the F-35A carrying two external SRAAM type stores on the outermost pylons, along with the remainder of the pylons fitted, but with no stores attached.

This photo shows the F-35B with a similar fit as above, plus the gun pod.

The next picture is an F-22 with 2 external AMRAAMs, one each on the outer wing pylons. I haven't found one yet with all 4 loaded.

Finally, it's fairly common to find photos of the F-22 with tanks, here is one.

You could argue that as of this very moment, the aircraft in real life cannot carry all the stores I have depicted, particularly the air to ground weaponry shown on the F-35. However, as you've seen, the aircraft are being fitted with the external pylons to carry such items so I'm sure we'll see them in the future.

Clearly you are too daft to know that those photos are only showing what's possible if someone wanted it like that. When you put stuff on the wings like that the jets loose their STEALTH abilities. I have talked to real pilots in the Airforce about that stuff and for combat missions all weapons are carried in a weapons compartment to help with their stealth abilities.

In your comment you simply stated that the F-35 & F-22 don't have their weapons on the wings. I have shown that they are both capable of external carriage of stores and that your assertion that something is wrong in my picture is incorrect.

I am quite aware of the fact that adding external stores to an aircraft increases it's RCS and that as such, external loads would likely only be carried after the majority of air & ground threats had been eliminated by aircraft flying in a low RCS configuration, or by cruise missiles, etc...

Sweet! They look cool. I recognized the F-22 right away, but I did have to look at the description for the other one. I'm going to let my geek show a little and admit the reason I know the F-22 so well is because in the Transformers live action movies, Starscream's alt-mode is an F-22. And he's always been a favorite of mine, so I paid close attention to him (and F-22s in general) whenever I saw him (or them). Yes, I'm a geek.

Your geekery is most welcome here The F-35 is the alt mode for some too, Breakawy & Air Raid come to mind; I don't think they feature in any of the recent films, etc though..

I forgot about them. I haven't seen all the G1 stuff in awhile, so some of them I've gotten rusty on. (They weren't in any of the films.) I should have remembered Air Raid tho. D'oh!

I only remember because I was looking for F-35 alt modes to paint up Otherwise I have no idea

Hehehe, I remember seeing a bunch of write ups on the Aerialbots recently (like a couple months ago), specifically Air Raid. And yet I totally spaced what his altmode is. Whoopsie.
