Fourth in the "Fractures" series. Experimenting with novel materials...
Therein lies a tool in every human being, a mechanism that is seldom seen as such and oft avoided completely by many. Sometimes described as the sinking feeling one gets during a quiet Sunday evening with nothing much to do. If only we could muster up the courage to embrace it wholeheartedly and, instead of retreating in to the world of endless screens, explore the murky depths of our deepest yearnings. For me this "Intrinsic Winter" is the tool for growth, guidance and learning. It's never an easy ride and usually you lose something along the way, but I'm all the more grateful for it. After all, this is what led me to the world of art...

Actually, I've been pondering the necessity of me expressing my thoughts in these works. Title is a must, but the little snippets of insight I like to write under each new work might even be detrimental. Interpretation of abstract art should ideally be left to the viewer, no? Am I needlessly interjecting my personal thoughts into that? Perhaps, but I think this site being more about the community aspect of art than professional endeavors, I'll continue doing so. Of course, if I'm ever able to exhibit in a proper gallery I'll keep my thoughts to myself (except when asked)!

Actually, I enjoy your comments and find them helpful. This kind of sculpture is so tied in with art traditions it seems right to talk about it within that framework. Every serious artist must learn how to communicate their work to others - especially if in a college or studio/arts setting. I REALLY appreciate the info on materials and process, concept - actually . . . I'm interested in the whole ball of wax.
