Most female taschevah keep phallums, which is defined as:"A single female in the company of several males which rank in specific orders according to their duties as phalli. One male will be her favored and loving companion, while others may rank as guardians and friends."
Although females are fully capable of taking care of themselves against other taschevah, they are not as capable of fending off extremely large predators and so they accept multiple males as a form of protection.
In most phallums, females and their chosen companion are the highest ranking and most doses of punishment (which is fairly uncommon), though fair, can sometimes be a bit brutal if necessary.
This female Mechaelen is giving a lower ranking male a what for and likely a severe demotion in status. This may seem over the top, but there is no likelihood of injury nor backlash (unless their punishment was unwarranted, in which case an all out fight may ensue- again, not very common).

Taschevah have an added internal pouch that acts as a second womb, so to speak. During that time only females carry their young (usually twins and m/f, one in each pouch). When they have finally outgrown the womb, they are then born into the actual wing pouch where they are able to breast feed, and after they are weaned, they still stay in the pouch until mom deems it time for them to "move out." In this case, while weaned yet still residing in the main wing pouch, males can take the duty as babysitter. Males DO have teats and they CAN breastfeed, however a male must have already been a midwife to ensure regular milk production.
And yes, males are just as able to move on to greener pastures as the females are if they are so inclined. So everyone does get the chance to reproduce.
Fights like these aren't actually that frequent, in this case it is a situation of a male not taking no for an answer and the female is making sure he finally gets the point. She has no interest in killing him, it's a matter of standing her ground. And as far as stronger of the two genders, they are fairly equal with males being just a little stronger, but it really all depends on genetics.

Taschevah are especially good at restraining themselves from inflicting much damage. This male knew if he tried to take her on, another taschevah would step in if necessary.

I love how real your work comes off as, like you the artist are on an off-world study, perhaps following a group of these guys and sketching out the behaviors of them. What might be some examples of things that would result in this type of punishment?

It's more or less dependent on what caused the issue. Say this guy up here had the luxury of being able to spend more quality time with the lady, broke a level of trust, the quality of time with her would be limited or even cut down to small specifics. Say, no more nuzzles near her head, no fore-foot stepping ( oddly enough, a universal sign of love- like holding hands), and if walking within a group, he must walk next to and or behind the companion male so he cannot see her hindquarters. Otherwise, life goes as per the norm. It's an acceptable form of punishment.
The worst punishment is being outcast from the phallum with no allowance of communication. This is normally decided by only the female.

They can move in mixed groups and they don't all have to be one race. There are times where two very close females will intermingle and even "share" their phalli males. Except for the companion, most men are equally allowed to go and do whatever they please, but are generally considered a direct part of a single woman's group and are there for her needs and defense.
