I like how this turned out! The color pallet is really something, and you did well with the "clear water" effect. I like the simple painting style and the bit of texture shown on the rocks and creature.
I do have a crit, though! The... nose? of the creature might do better as a lighter color, like the flipper is, to show atmospheric perspective, since it's further away!
Either way, well done :>

I imagined the pointy thing as a horn, but you do have a point there.
Thanks for the crit! I really need a lot of those.;;
Again...Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.

Ohh that's what that is, haha. I'm glad to give a few tips n pointers and whatnot anytime :>
Have you ever watched this before? I actually found it pretty helpful and plan on using some of the techniques, whenever I get around to doing another full piece.

I didn't know what a Shonisaurus was when I came up with it, but yeah it sort of looks like it!

A rather big, fat and short-necked Nessy it seems.

I only put the pretty stuff up here. The entirety of the stuff I come up with don't actually always end up looking nice and get scrapped. DX

it's so beautiful, and honestly... tell me... will you draw a reference for that? i'd love to have a go at recreating a close up shot of it. Unless you wouldn't mind me designing a look for it owo

asdfghjkl
Okay to be honest I feel quite uncomfortable when I see those giantic sea monsters.
specially things like this from bird's view: images.fineartamerica.com/imag…
I don't know, it makes me feel so small even if I'm looking just at the pictures. BUT THAT WAS JUST A RANDOM FACT ABOUT MYSELF :'D
Apart from that I freaking love it, like holy shit why are you so good at backgrounds. Your colour are always so amazing, how do you do that.
And of course - The perspective. AND THE ENVIRONMENT HOW COULD I FORGET. Looks like some giant canyon... But even with this monster cutie here I would go swim in there even though I can't swim

Good whale, nice whale. I'm more the type to get up close. Just as long as I know the creature doesn't have a taste for human flesh. 8D
I've already done it with whalesharks, and damn it was an amazing experience.
Dude. Thank you. ;~;

elfcicada In reply to aignavus [2015-07-04 16:56:10 +0000 UTC]
aahdafhdsf you've done it? Oh gosh, I congratulate you courage to do that :'D
If I had a chance I would get close too... I'm doing Animal Care afterall and I love animals. But only on the pictures, where I can see the difference between human and whale/shark or whatever... I just feel uncomfortable when looking. The difference is what kinda scares me :'D
Mind if I ask you how long did that picture take you? Cause it's just... It's so messy but at the same time so detailed and I was just wondering =w=
You would make a great concept artist I say

Probably the better part of an hour? Or a little more than that. It came out way too different from the original sketch.
Pfft. Nawh, I think I need more practice. oo;;

elfcicada In reply to aignavus [2015-07-04 23:12:43 +0000 UTC]
Oh wow, that was quick then.
I expected something like 2-3 hours but... Well, you're my bestest senpai because of those reasons How you can make something amazing in such short period of time :'D
Well, more practice never killed anyone, everyone have to practice ;w;
Here I thought your art was already perfect, but then I saw this. It's amazing how you're improving so fast ;w;
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
aignavus In reply to elfcicada [2015-07-04 23:26:35 +0000 UTC]
Which is why it's messy and doesn't look too detailed.
Also, I worked on it small. Not in big dumps of 300 dpi.
It's hard to see if I really am improving. But I'm glad it seems like I am doing some improvement according to what you're saying--
