Description
Following a tearful reunion with his parents, who had thought that he had died as a cub, Kopa meets his sister Kiara for the first time. He knew when he left the Pridelands that he had a sibling on the way, he has always kept that in his thoughts. Kovu looks on dubiously, he met Kopa as a cub, but doesn't remember anything about him.Characters are © Disney, art is © Sandy Christiansen

Kovu doesn't remember Kopa very well, although Kovu is older than him. Kovu wasn't allowed to interact with Simba's pride, Zira did not want them to 'defile' her son. Kopa was Nuka and Vitani's playmate, up until Kopa disappeared and Zira and her children were exiled. Kovu has blocked out most memories of his childhood before moving to the Outlands.

very good job, it is really good, but shouldnt kopa just be a little bit bigger and look a little older than kovu? he is older then them

Done on purpose c: Kovu is actually older than Kopa in my version. Kovu and Vitani were born a little while before Simba returned, because of the famine and such and perhaps for other reasons, they were stunted in growth as cubs (the only way I can explain why Kovu isn't three times Kiara's size when they meet), while Kopa was born healthy and grew quickly, even his mane tuft came in earlier than was usual for a cub his age. During the years since cubhood, their growth has evened out somewhat, Kopa may yet grow a tiny bit, but has yet to bulk up. Kovu is full grown here and in the process of bulking up c:

Of course, this is the logic I used. There are a few fan versions in which Kovu is chosen after Scar's death because of an ambiguous announcement that if Zira gives birth to a son, it should become his heir, but I don't subscribe to that version. Besides, Kovu has to remember him a little bit, right?

He's not from the movies, there was a series of books released about the same time as the first movie, in 1994, that featured Simba's son Kopa. The series was called The Lion King: Six New Adventures. most of the books are someone telling Kopa a story, or Kopa having cute little adventures. Officially, since the books are not really affiliated with the movie, Kopa never existed, and the production team never considered Kopa for the second film. It is a hobby of Lion King artists to try and fit Kopa into the exisiting timeline for the movies.
So what you see here is basically my attempt at wedging him into the canon movie universe.

Yes, he is a real character C: just the situations I put him in are not real. In the book from which he came, there was no Zira or Kovu or Kiara. It was a very different time.

It certainly would have made for an interesting sequel, but my Kopa story is a little too similar to what happened in the original film; Young prince is nearly assassinated and runs away, lives with bachelor(s) with questionable parenting abilities, grows up and returns to his home.
