First comic of the new year. First teasing of the bun bun of the new year~ =3=But really tho I find it to be one of the most underwhelming moment I've ever felt since EP1 The Phantom Menace.

I don't think it's her weapon. If you compare her weapon from when it's first shown during "Breach" to her camera in the most recent episode, the camera is less than half the size.Β

Maybe it's part of her weapon. Then again, why would she be carrying her weapon around in public like that? Could just be that her "camera bag/box" just looks similar.

I've noticed that most of them appear not to (at least, not always), apart from soldiers such as Winter, and others such as Qrow. I suspect that only Hunters and Huntresses would be allowed to carry their weapons all the time, as Qrow and Winter do. I mean, wouldn't it seem a bit weird to allow everyone to carry dangerous weapons in the middle of a city? Perhaps closer to the borders, where the Grimm are a more present danger. For example, Team RWBY has only carried their weapons when they know they could need them at some point. And during the Vytal festival, I've only seen Yang with her weapons, which is not too surprising, since they can be passed off as bracelets, while the others are obviously weapons.

It's confirmed on the wiki that the box she carries is her weapon. It could be that it's a laser of some kind, and the camera is part of it.

The box she carries CONTAINS her weapon. Here's a short bit from the Wiki description of the weapon:
"Velvet STORES her weapon in a small box that she keeps slung from her shoulder...."

Don't assume it's her weapon because the picture of the box. Also, not everything on the Wiki is true. I've watch theΒ live streamsΒ and the production diaries they released before volume 2. The second production diary has Monty himself talking about the weapon INSIDE the box.
Check your sources and do a bit more research next time, OK?

Don't get so worked up about it. Also, since the wiki mostly describes the box, it's easy to get confused. The only people who seriously research things like this really need to think about whether it's really that important. We'll find out at some point anyway. Also, I've found that official wikis are generally very accurate, and the quickest way to learn about a series.
