Description Please Read BEFORE you COMMENT!

Ah...it feels good to draw a woman again. It's been so long! This is Elinis, the main character from my story Remedies. I was inspired by the first chapter. Clent (who's hand is on the right) comes to tend to her wound, which she is keeping hidden from everyone.

We all try and hide things from other people. We suffer because of this.

Please keep your anatomy comments positive. I am not perfect by any means! This pose was dificult-especially the angle of her face-but I am happy with the outcome. Thanks! I plan on working with more dynamic poses like this one because I end up learning so much about anatomy in the process.

References taken from Michaelangelo's Creation of Adam (Clent's hand) and the DK title Anatomy for the Artisit

No mature content, right? Everything is pretty much hidden!

Mediums used: HB pencil on drawing paper, INK. Another drawing from my sketch book done in class.

Characters Elinis and Clent © to Amanda Klammer

This piece speaks very deeply to me. I hid a lot of wounds from a close friend of mine for a long time, because I didn't think she cared that she was hurting me. We're estranged now. Maybe we wouldn't have been if I had spoken out more, or maybe the relationship could have ended sooner and spared us both a lot of pain. It took a long time before I could even speak up about it, in the hopes that maybe we were close enough friends to reach some kind of understanding. That was not the case, and I think I'll spend a very long time feeling confused about it and looking at the world differently than a lot of people around me do.

Anyways. I suppose that's testament to your mad art skills that I am wanting to bore you with my sob story at all. LoL. Very nice piece.

I write a lot as well. If you ever feel like sharing, note me. I always like to read other people's creations.

I absolutely love the human figure.
I've learned a lot by experimenting and trying out different poses, and then practicing them from my mind ^^

I don't think that it needs a mature content filter, I think that there are some people alot worse at anatomy and alot more drawings with bad anatomy(mine, for example). I do think her arms/hands look a bit big or bulky? I think maybe you should be able to see more of her right arm...I dunno, I don't know much about anatomy cept for what I can see. Great pic tho, love her hair.

S'kind of how I feel right now...

I've sort of been in this strange mood lately. This picture was pretty much therapy.

Heh, I've got a lot of work to do before I'd be happy with my own illustrations! I'm getting there though-thanks for the kind words!

Fair enough. Drawing is very therapeutic.

No one will ever be happy with their own work. It's just life, but you really are very good.

carolinejamhour [2008-09-14 03:58:22 +0000 UTC]

Wow, this is pretty artistic! I love her pose and how she's embracing herself, as if for self protection. I love the concept as well: we usually keep our deepest wounds hidden.
I like the "blood" that is dripping there... that bloody design is very creative.
Also, her hair look gorgeous. I love your art-noveau style of doing hair

Aikya In reply to carolinejamhour [2008-09-15 01:47:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks my friend!
I love the concealed poses-they're really fun to work with-lots of shadows and focus on form. You learn a lot real quick!

Whew! Hair! It was fun to work on

JWiesner [2008-09-14 03:14:33 +0000 UTC]

There's nothing wrong with the anatomy for me. And if there is, it's nothing major. Can't see something.

I think this turned out well!
Elinis really has that pose of hiding something, because she's turned away from the hand, and her hands and legs are pressed to herself.
It could also be the pose of being ashamed, which often turns out to be the reason why you hide something.

"We all try and hide things from other people. We suffer because of this."
Amen!

Aikya In reply to JWiesner [2008-09-16 17:11:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank my friend!
I love this pose-the whole 'turned awayness' is one of my favorite themes. Hiding the face and eyes away from the viewer. Sort of a therapeutic pic for me ^^

The anatomy is drawn perfect. The pose very realistically. I feel the Destruction of the love between two persons. A wound is a misfortune for both. The hair-style of the woman is modeled in the typical AmandaArtStyl. One can see each strand.

Aikya In reply to andrekosslick [2008-09-16 17:12:40 +0000 UTC]

Rofl-that made me laugh-it's true! I do tend to make the strands into clumps-it's gotta be the influence of Art Nouveau on me. I love that style!

Thanks for the kind words-I love combining styles!
