Split Complementary watercolor!I messed around with the composition a bit-by adding SWIRLS!

I like how the contrast turned out-the powerful muzzle against the orange background is my favorite part.
Mediums used: pencil on hot press wc paper, watercolors, ps for frame. ^^

The weather is strange here to! Suddenly 10 cm of snow and it has been snow free for quite a while. Last year at easter it came almost 2m in a night. That was scary. Some people could not get out their front doors, and this is not a joke it was really that bad in southern norway. Something is wrong!

Well this painting was part of an assignment for a watercolors class, and our teacher gave us a specific color scheme. I based it off of that and painted my favorite animal ^^

this is gawjus, it has given me a new way of doing my equines, as i only usually do the head and neck and it looks quite scruffy if i just finish it there so.. yeah and love the colors

I can't help but feel it looks kinda troubled... But I really like the swirls, and the contrasts. When I paint I'm usually not bold enough to try to make colours like theese blend. You go!

I love the oranges and blues, two of my favorite colors! I definitely love the stylism here, and over all the piece is stunning! I think if it were in an art gallery it would be the first to catch my eye.
I love the composition! I haven't done water color in years. It's mostly been sketches, oils or charcoal.
I rather like how you have your own style. I think I've yet to find mine. I'm still sort of searching and I need to expand my portfolio drastically!

This was my first split complementary painting in watercolors-I learned so much from this pic. It started out as a pencil drawing, but the paints really drown out the graphite-you can barely see my lines ^^

It is truly wondeful to study how you have managed to attain such an impressive volume to amke the horse come to life with only a few subtle shades and the associated hues. The shading is very impressive, you having employed different colours rather than variations of one (a mistake I find myself committing too often). There is also a pleasing mix of warm and cold elements - the blue and purple of darkness and the orange gold of illumination.

I did learn a lot from this picture-about chroma and toning. I was really scared at first! You never know what might happen.
