Description
Fire, is a very unpredictable force, just like imagination. I feel I have bonded with this element and it continues to show up in my artwork, unintentionally. I’ve decided to let my style go where it needs to and to stop trying to persuade it differently.Thank you everybody for the faves, comments critique and overall feedback on my art. I have been very busy lately but I promise I will find the time to go through messages. I always appreciate the time you take to look at my creations.
Here is another drawing similar to this one-I used it as a reference: [link]
Pose reference was taken from a book titled African Predators from my library.
I will be posting a tutorial on how I drew this picture!
Materials used: 100% watercolor pencils on 90 lb. watercolor paper.
Time: 30+ hours. I’ve put this in the drawing category because 80% of the work is laying the pigment down with pencils, and 20% is adding water to it.
Artwork is © to Amanda Klammer. Please do not use this image without my permission please!

amazing drawing...I would have coloured the background black to give more contrast to the flames...I really like the movement in this piece and how you did the fire great!

Thank you so much!
I thought about adding some darker colors to the background-that would be neat to do in another picture-like a fire at night

Oh if only I could draw something like this. I had to make 3 drawings in art class using the elements fire, water, and wind. I really like to see your tutorial of this, maybe I can draw something like this for my art class drawings then.
Really like the colors of it...

Thanks a lot! I would love to do some more elements-it would be neat to draw a water but with a fiery energy to it
I will get around to posting the tutorial!

Thanks!
I have become fond of working with watercolor pencils-it was sort of a fluke when I bought my first set-I wouldn't have tried them if they weren't on sale at the time ^^

I'm glad you like my fire pics! It is fun to see how the compositions come out-they are mostly random and full of energy when I get the change to mess around with my pencils ^^

Awesome! The colors are so fluent.
This one echoes greatly in my head. Maybe because I'm a leo? ^o^
But really, it looks so confident, proud and unpredictable, like a true king of the animals.

Yay for leos! My brother is a leo-and a large amount of my friends are. Lions have always captivated my imagination and I felt that combining the spirit of one with the element of fire would somehow amplify his courage.

That is truly beautiful. Personally, I also think that this picture works better with the element than the one you used as reference, because fire does not really go with a horse's flight response. If you don't treat it correctly, it will turn on you and become a predator, after all. I think you brought it across really well, and fire is certainly a great element to bond with.
As usual, marvelous work.

Thanks a lot! I like what you had pointed out about my other picture and I understand what you mean. It is fun to see the different reactions to combining elements with different subjects, horses are very fiery indeed (especially the mare I work with) and the lion's African habitat mirrors the flaming sun.

Thanks my dear! Do you see any wild lions where you live? I think that would be amazing to see one in the wild, sitting by the setting sun.

Pleasure
Unfortunately not
None left in the wild here in South Africa ..... thanks to man's greed and stupidity. Only find them in reserves and game parks now.
