Brilliant stuff! I've seen this on a couple of galleries before and wondered 'how did they do that?' It looks so official I even assumed it was some super layout for senior members only.
I've put it in my own galleries now; I really like the way it looks. I tweaked it ever so slightly so that the gallery description is there right away without having to mouseover - I suspect not many people will bother to mouseover, so I changed that.
I never knew dA gallery urls were case-sensitive (if you have a gallery called WipEout then the url actually says #WipEout and not #wipeout). Was fun editing all the links once I'd spotted that.

I have alot of gallery folders in my gallery, I just finished putting this in on one of them, but it doesn't show all the folders. Is there anyway to lengthen that sidebar, or put a scrollbar? Please help, because I'd really like to use this journal skin

It shows that in your favorites you get to decide what "type" of favorites you get to look at as shown on the left side... you have your options there! It's a pretty neat idea

oh well I'm shocked there isn't a "browse" and drop down arrow system like if you browse your own gallery you see what type of things the person or yourself has and you can sort it out like that, although they do have the collection system which you can group stuff but yeah this is pretty much like that except just text, but still not a bad idea that I understand it.
