Description The first F-22 had a mechanical issue so the pilot jumped into the # 2 jet and put on a great show.

Amazing shot. It's so clear! You must have some kick-butt zoom.

I was wondering what the heck was going on when I saw the pilot get out of the first plane. At least whatever happened happened on the ground and not in the air. My husband and I were really disappointed and were almost ready to leave when we saw this one take off then rushed back to our old spot to get some shots of it. None of mine do any justice to its beauty. Yours, however, do.

I saw somewhere the math of how that original 440 number came about. Apparently it has to do with running an operation like Desert Storm or Operation Iraqi Freedom and the minimum number of aircraft needed at any given time to provide 24-7 air superiority.

It made a ton of sense. Factored in on-station time, average down time on ground, time to station, re-fueling, how many wings needed to cover x area and such.

At the current number we can't even have F-22s up 24/7 to protect the United States homeland if it were necessary. Right NOW we don't need F-22s, but we'll be hurting bad if the state of the world changes a little and we do.

OK..., I've put approx. 70 hours in the Raptor on flight sim...but it's so hard to land because of the 70,000 lbs of thrust from both engines!!! It was designed to fly..., no doubt...lol/Airlux27
