The Brachypelma smithi only lives on the ground and she needs to dig a little cave. It's my recommendation that you should give her a ground which is 10-20 cm high (from the front to the back upward). I think potting soil is the best for her because it's a little bit clayey. And don't forget to press on the soil because spiders don't like it to walk on loose ground. My Brachypelma smithi doesn't dig so much but my Grammostola aureostriata does. ^^ He looks like a little digger.

oh i see.. the current substrate depth is about 5 cm, and i ran out of potting soil now..
one quick question, is it better to use Zoo Med eco earth? i've seen lots of people on youtube using it as substrate and i love its smooth texture, besides they say it's good for burrowing

Haha I know that. I was shoveling soil into buckets for my terrarium and it's still too little. xD
I know which substrate you mean. I already saw it on many videos but it's not good for building caves. And it can be very dusty. But it can store too much water at the same time, which is not so good for spiders too. Loamy soil is the best.

Probably a couple of years old at least, brachypelmas are quite slow growing T's. I have an 8cm juvenile arriving on tuesday along with two Brachypelma klassi. Lovely spider!

Anything from 5 to 10 years for some of the brachypelmas, theres other factors like temperature, feeding rate etc to take into consideration.
