This shot brings back a lot of memories for me. At the turn of the millennium, I stood probably about ten feet back from where you were standing when you took this shot. I had just drove from Cincinnati, OH - straight through. And the picture is breathtaking.

Awesome composition; love the vertical shot. Slow shutter speed = nice water effect.

And I see you got a Canon, nice!

ya half my pics are with my shitty rebel xt... I really hate that camera. It seems that half of my shots on here are with my damn point and shoot. Oh what I'd do to have a real camera.

Haha, well the Rebel isn't THAT bad, although I do agree that it has some serious limitations. Still much better than a point-and-shoot tho.

Your lens is much more important than the camera body, however. If you ever find yourself with an extra grand lying around (who wouldn't like that?), invest in a solid lens instead of upgrading the camera body. But double and triple check to make sure the lens is compatible with other Canon bodies so when you do upgrade, you can use that lens with your new body (assuming you stick with Canon, and I would if I were you).

Also, if you're going to stick with landscapes, get a solid tripod if you haven't already. Anything you take with a shutter speed slower than 1/60th of a second will show some serious motion blur unless it's on a tripod. Expect to pay around $300 for a solid Manfrotto tripod (best tripod manufacturer I've come across). If you have a high-contrast shot, e.g. bright sky and dark foreground, you'll be using a slow shutter speed to expose the foreground properly. And if it's a landscape shot you want to keep in good focus from foreground to background, you'll be using a small aperture which = slower shutter speed as well. So in short, a tripod is a necessity for landscapes, believe me.

I know this is unsolicited advice, but I tend to ramble, haha.

Well i currently only shoot with either my 28 2.8 or my 50 1.8 which both are compatible with canon's daddy cameras. I have a bogen manfrotto that is for about 350 for head and legs, I just don't ever bring it along. I know I should, but I figure I'll just snap and see what light I can write with.

Thanks for the advice though, my eyes and ears are always open

I have the 50 1.8 as well...probably my favourite. So versatile, and ridiculously cheap.

Haha, definitely start bringing your tripod along...good habit to get into. You'll be kicking yourself if you find that one shot that can only be done with a tripod. Trust me, I know.

Awesome shot! This place is REAL?

I appreciate that Jared. Yes it is real, it is a fall down east of Portland. It didn't come out how I wanted it to, but it was so wet I couldn't afford my lens to get any wetter. Thanks!
