[Notes: So, is it ironic that I took an originally non-poisonous Pokémon and turned it poisonous right before I go on and "purify" an originally poisonous one? I guess not. Koffing was pretty awaited on my Deviant and I hope I haven't disappointed. While the initial idea for the variant was a Rock/Fire exploding meteorite, we do have Minior and it would've somewhat been like rehashing Alnean Geodude line. So, I took the much subtle but obvious inspiration behind Koffing, that is the Smoke Grenades, and went on with the purification part until I thought, "Wait, clouds!" So, here we go… Also, the ICPT is mentioned, which in my headcanon is a UN like organization that deals with global issues concerning Pokémon training.]
.
It's no longer a matter of surprise how the vastly diversified variants found in Alneo Region have helped Pokélogists and trainers alike to understand the origins of multitude of Pokémon species as well as the influence of human beings on their natural development. The above statement is best exemplified by the occasional hordes of Koffing casually drifting around in the Alnean skies.
.
If a trainer who has no exceptional knowledge on Pokémon biology is asked about the appearance of a Koffing or a Weezing, they'd almost certainly say that it has a rocky exterior like meteorites. This raises a question, though… why isn't Koffing a Rock-type? Minior is, so is Lunatone or Solrock. The answer is way simpler than many theorists would like to think: for all intent and purposes, a Koffing has nothing to do with rocks. Instead, the exoskeleton of a Koffing is organic, much closer in structure to that of a Crawdaunt.
.
Many would simply be done with the above information as it's enough to explain why the species is the way it is. However, the thing that both the Kantonese and Galarish variants of Koffing hide almost perfectly is what makes the Alnean variant so unique: the "true" form of the Pokémon. With the discovery of the Alnean regional variants for Koffing, it soon became apparent that the Pokémon's external look is more or less a container. The "real" Pokémon is in fact amorphous and appears like a cluster of macroscopic gas molecules that would likely diffuse off into the environment if it ever left its shell.
.
The Cloudmaker family of Koffing has a glass-like, oddly translucent exoskeleton that enables a person to be able to see its internal gaseous form. These variants have since long inhabited the stratosphere above Alnean land and play a pivotal role in the circulation of monsoon winds and rainfall around the gigantic region. As such, the Pokémon are rarely seen near ground level but are quite a common sight if someone is peeking out of an aircraft window.
.
The researcher community had stayed divided for long (with a few in denial even to this date) on the topic of which Koffing variant came first and which developed later. According to the papers given to the ICPT (International Council of Pokémon Training) by Professor Gary Oak of Kanto with assistance from Mossdeep Research Center, the official speculation was decided for Alnean Koffing variants to be the originals, who were brought over to Indigo Plateau during the Great Eastern Plague in hopes of luring rainfall, but without the proper dietary requirements, the species soon adapted to the heavily industrialized Kanto, eventually becoming the harbingers of pollution the Pokémon are known to be.
.
As for the Plague, it ended when a horde of Slowpoke led by a mystical Slowking took refuge in the exteriors of Azalea Town in Johto.

This one is really beautiful! The translucent shell reminds me of Glarian Corsola. Cloudmakers is a really creative idea for this family

I really like the color scheme on these, with the translucent "skin" over a darker "core". They look a lot like storm clouds IMO.
Just curious, any inspiration from the recently revealed Galarian Weezing, which also purifies air?

Brilliant. Utterly brilliant. Probably your best so far.
I was looking forward to see what you would do with koffing. I expected a water-type, for some reason. But this is better than i thought.
Great job!
