Nice job with Togepi and Misty, they go well together.
Honestly, Misty's Togepi really doesn't deserve the negative rap it was, and is getting. 1. Misty already had a motherly nature to her (Aside from her concern for Pikachu in the first two episodes, she also comforted an injured Cubone in A Chansey Operation, well before Togepi hatched), so Togepi wasn't responsible for her having it, not to mention even back before Spring 2011, I never saw anything wrong with being motherly and in fact there have been plenty of characters who adopted a motherly nature whose characters weren't ruined (like Samus Aran by the ending of Metroid II: Return of Samus, Terra Branford from Final Fantasy VI, even Ariel in Return to the Sea); and 2. Togepi simply wasn't meant for battling, so what else was it supposed to do besides sit in Misty's arms? In fact, the only way to access its true potential is by evolving it, and that can't be achieved by having it in battles since, let's face it, its sluggishness, tiny size, and baby nature makes it incapable of being used for battle (not to mention definitely going to need to see an ER if anyone other than Ash's Pikachu battles it), its move sets aren't even that impressive (most of its attacks are status attacks, which are useless in a one-on-one fight, and the only two actual attacks it has in Gen II are Metronome and Double Edge, the first attack is so random it isn't reliable, and the second you don't even get until you have it at a high enough level), and even if we go by the anime, its battling potential as a Togepi is going to be extremely limited anyways. People comment about how Phanpy and Larvitar were good Pokémon despite being egg Pokémon, but they conveniently forget that unlike Togepi, those Pokémon at least actually are capable of and are meant to be used for battling.
Not to mention its the hating on Togepi for "not doing anything" as if battling (whether trainer battles or contest battles) are the only things that prove a Pokémon's worth that landed us with various Pokémon that people complain are way too overpowered (such as May's Squirtle and Eevee and Dawn's Piplup, ironically Pokémon who actually were meant to be used for battling). Now, if Togepi actually was more than capable of battling, and yet still did absolutely nothing, I can at least see why people would be hateful of it, but let's be honest, it really wasn't meant for battling.
