Description
Classic video games have very distinct smells. Q-Bert smells like cardboard boxes and Muppetflesh. Pac-Man smells like Kix cereal. And Dig Dug smells like topsoil and helium. Apsara has a very perceptive sense of smell and a long history of Atari addiction.
I drew this comic primarily because my human characters, Apsara and Laura, usually only appear in one panel because 1) they’re so much larger than the other characters and 2) I’m not as confident drawing actual humans. So this was a little exercise. On another note, after I drew this I realized that Laura’s expression in panel four is straight off the face of Phoebe from ElectricGecko 's webcomic Puck.
(Note: I'm getting a lot of comments about Apsara and Laura being in bed together. That's not a bed, guys: it's a couch. They're sitting on a couch reading, and in the last panel they turn around to see what's going on behind them. So what you're looking at is the back of the couch. I tend toward minimalism and hoped that would be obvious, but I guess I've confused a bunch of folks this time around. Sorry!)

I saw the couch and thought a bed, such a dirty mind I have!
I loved playing Dig Dug when I was a kid, but it kinda had a horror movie concept. Voracious monsters underground seeking to eat you, and the only way you could kill them is to fire a harpoon in their belly so you could pump them up with air till they blew up! Come think of it, I think Hollywood might be calling for such a story!

I remember playing Dig Dug in the arcades back when Dinos roamed the Earth.
The T Rexes were the worst because their little arms could not reach the joysticks.

Nope, they got their quarters from the other dinos.
When you heard that "Gimme a quarter or Ima slappa you!", it was time to give up the coins.
Since you had to put the quarter in the machine for the T Rexes, some impudent
dinos would put the quarters in suck games.
The bullies had to play, no one back then could resist a free play.

They don't. In the first panels, you're looking at them as they sit on the couch. At the end, they're looking at what's going on behind the couch.

Ah, okay. I was not clear at all. My next question was going to be why they were sleeping together cuz it looked like a bed and the Dig-Duggery was going on at the foot of their bed.

It definitely looks like a couch now. I think something about the way the background almost looks like pillows in the final panel is what started the "oh it's a bed" reaction. (Then again we humble comic lovers aren't always observant...)
