A follow-up to yesterday's comic: ak-is-harmless.deviantart.com/β¦The older folks (ie, the folks my age) will get the full joke here. In the Super Mario Bros. 2 manual, Birdo was revealed to be a boy who wanted to be a girl. This never really changed in Japan, but in the U.S., where gender ambiguity is something to be feared, they changed Birdo into a girl.
I hear that's starting to change, though, with newer games calling Birdo's gender into question.
