I don’t know about you guys, but the pumpkin quality has been really poor around here. Maybe I’ll forgo jack-o-lanterns, too, and put pumpkin pies out on the porch this Halloween.

Oh come on, Winslow. It doesn't have to be a pumpkin to be a jack-o-lantern. I'm sure he knows the original Irish ones were made with turnips. And given his carving prowess, seen in that older strip where he carves faces into everything on the counter, the possibilities are literally endless. Cantaloupes. Jelly beans. Toasters. Obsolete vacuum tube monitors. Use a durian and smell like a corpse without killing/digging up someone. Or go whole hog and kill/dig up someone for a torso-lantern. Heck, if it was of a size, he could use a whole hog.
