Description

Applejack and Flam got together after a drunken roll in the hay during a harvest festival. They'd become interested in each other from working together during cider seasons (in this AU, the cider wager from season 2 went differently - I'll explain some other time) and had developed a fair amount of sexual tension that got released with the help of alcohol. The next morning, AJ was mortified and was going to just forget about it and move on, until she found out she was pregnant. She and Flam married quickly to avoid the wrath of Granny Smith, and were happy together for a while. AJ was ecstatic to start a family (even though it wasn't in the way she'd hoped) and Flam was surprised at his own excitement over being an expecting father.

They started falling apart shortly after Harvest's birth. Their first big argument happened only a month after, as Flam wanted to go back on the road and work with his brother. He left in a huff, leaving AJ to balance running a big farm and raising a baby. She was really bitter and angry about it and never let him live it down, which only fanned the flames of later arguments. Flam upset her even more after Jonamac's birth when he told her he didn't want any more kids, before leaving again. AJ was devastated - she'd always dreamed of having a big family with a loving husband.

Soon after, a rodeo was held at Ponyville. Big Mac encouraged her to take a break and do something she loved that wasn't work-related. AJ reluctantly caved in and found herself having the most fun she'd had in years. Troubleshoes was also there, working as a rodeo clown. AJ recognized him from when Apple Bloom had helped him out and struck up a conversation with him, and the two hit it off. They formed a quick friendship and Troubleshoes became a strong source of emotional support for her. Feelings of love grew slowly between them and they started having an emotional affair. AJ was wracked with guilt over cheating on her husband, even if their marriage had fallen apart, and eventually confessed to Flam. He was rather apathetic and admitted he'd been unfaithful to her while he'd been away. The two divorced and never saw each other again.

Applejack and Troubleshoes started officially dating not long after and married quickly. AJ was nervous at first about rushing into marriage again, but was reassured by her new loving and loyal husband and the longer time they'd had to know each other. Flam hasn't seen his sons since the last time he left and has never tried to contact them.

Harvest Bounty
Male unicorn, 24 years old; a gruff and intimidating farmer who couldn’t hurt a fly. Mostly keeps to himself, but always open to a friendly chat. Prefers to stay out of any and all drama/chaos/nonsense happening in Ponyville and watch instead. An amazing brewer and distiller. A good drinking buddy. Knows a lot of the gossip around town and occasionally “lets slip” a juicy bit about someone who’s been rude to his family and friends.
Jonamac
Male unicorn, 22 years old; a self-proclaimed free-spirited, affable, and chill artist who dreams of seeing the world. Actually a bitter, selfish, and pessimistic artist who wants to leave home. Acts friendly but looks down on most people. Used to be a big believer in “honesty’s the best policy” but now sees it as pointless. Deceives most people, but his mom sees right through his little act. Has a superiority complex, especially concerning his art (secretly dissatisfied with most of his work).
Trusty Almanac
Male terran, 18 years old; a cocky and competitive foot racer. Hotheaded and impulsive – all it takes to rile him up is implying he sucks at something. In a heated (but friendly) rivalry with Aerodynamic over everything, but mostly racing. Super determined. Physically cannot leave a job unfinished. Surprisingly calm if he doesn’t win a race, doesn’t brag (too much) if he wins. More arrogant and a sore loser in non-professional settings. Occasionally competes in rodeos.
Honeycrisp Blossom
Female terran, 16 years old; the vivacious and eternally optimistic belle of Sweet Apple Acres. Your typical "girl next heart" and total sweetheart. Kind-hearted and always tries to see the best in everyone, but hopelessly naïve and overly trusting. Idealistic, believes everyone is good at heart and has trouble seeing the bad in others. Spoiled sweet, can sometimes be childish, petulant, and innocently insensitive, but ultimately good-hearted and well-meaning. A terrific gardener who loves to arrange bouquets with special meanings/significances. Very popular with the boys in Ponyville but single because of her protective parents and brothers terrifying potential suitors.
Sweet Cider
Female terran, 13 years old; a painfully shy filly who fears rejection. Often sacrifices her own happiness to go with whatever the group is doing. A goody-two-shoes who never succeeds at dissuading Harmony Starshine out of any mischief. Can be uptight and afraid of getting hurt. A bit emotional, usually seen as a crybaby. Sometimes clumsy (especially when nervous) but very grounded when comfortable, especially while doing chores on the farm.
Branch Buckley
Male terran, 13 years old; a thoughtful and kind apprentice baker. Quieter when meeting new ponies, but opens up quickly once he gets to know them. Spirited and extroverted when fully comfortable in a situation. Kind of clumsy like his twin since he’s at an awkward age and hasn’t quite grown into his body yet. More coordinated in a kitchen. Attentive when talking to others or doing work, but often checks out when focusing on baking.
