“Oh, bless me heart!” she practically yipped like an eager pup, “Ye don’t know how lonely I’ve been!” The larger wolfs warning seemed to go right over her head.

Tir bounced up onto the ledge with only minor difficulties, then wasted no time in getting close to the strangers face. Her eyes burned with curiosity and joy, nose twitching as she took in every scent drifting from his pelt. He smelled of the surrounding pines and of autumn leaf litter. She wondered where he’d come from, and how far he had travelled. To her innocent gaze, he looked friendly enough, or at the least, not immediately threatening.

“M’names Tirrithe! But ye can call me Tir!” Her tail wagged madly behind her, occasionally hitting the nearby low hanging branches, “What may I call ye, ialri (stranger)?”

If Khatar knew she was going to be up in his face, he would have run. He backed up, bumping against the bark of a tree as the ginger wolf leapt up and into his space, wagging her tail a mile a minute. It crashed into the branches surrounding her, and Khatar cringed. Oh. She talked very fast. Very. He pulled his head back as far as he could, his lips curled over the front of his teeth as a warning while she continued to ramble on in her strange accent.

“What may I call ye, ialri?”

“Khatar,” he said, ears pinned back. “Not ialri, please.” What sort of language was that? He had never heard of such strange words. He took the opportunity to slip past her, looking over the tawny she-wolf. Lean, and long-legged. Apparently quite agile as well, considering she cleared the ledge without much trouble.
