Description
A Liger is a male lion/female tiger hybrid (male tiger/female lion = tigon). I've seen one named Patrick at a nearby preserve. He has a large tiger's body and a partial lion's mane.I sometimes wonder how animals like Patrick must feel. Since tigers and lions come from different parts of the world, hybrids of the two species don't exist in the wild, just in captivity.
And think about how different lions and tigers are: Lions are the only social big cats and live in large groups, while tigers are very territorial and live alone. Tigers love water, while lions hate it. Lions purr when they are in a good mood, tigers make a "chuffing" noise when they are.
Patrick roars like a lion and "chuffs" like a tiger and has a stream runnning through his enclosure that he can visit if he's feeling tiger-ish, but I can't help but wonder if being a mixture of two cats that are so different might make him feel...well, I'll let the picture do the talking.

Humans are rather stupid.
We just love making new animals and whatnot.
For what purpose?

I love his expression--he looks so lost in thought, so contemplative. The softness of the coloring really adds to it, too.
