Description
A scene from Space Quest 6: The Spinal Frontier. I recorded this scene while I was making the "Over My Head" video and forgot just how funny it was, making me decide to resketch a sketch of this scene I originally made last year and color it.Quick backstory: Roger Wilco, the game's protagonist, finds himself kidnapped while on shore leave. Just as help shows up, one of his kidnappers appears and Roger bounds into his rescuer's arms, with a little more terror than you'd expect him to show.* The scene that follows this one is equally amusing.
Blaach, Roger's hair continues to give me problems. Every time I think I've got it down, it turns out that I'm drawing it completely wrong. And the fact that it changes from game to game (his part even switches sides, for GSD's sake!) doesn't help matters any. I'd make a bust of his head to use as a reference if I could just figure out how the whole thing looks.
Sorry for the cruddy background. Architecture, futuristic or otherwise, is not my forte.
*In the narrator's words, "You should be ashamed of yourself for jumping on her like that, you baby!"

I'm trying to draw Roger Wilco. Any suggestions? (I'm having a REALLY hard time!)
I wanna draw him, Stellar Santiago, Chesbro and Magnum engaged in a game of Hallway Mop-Hockey aboard the DS-86. (I figured they'd all goof off a bit in their spare time.... Roger especially!)

My best suggestion would be to study screenshots of him from various angles (especially from SQ4-6). His appearance does change from game to game, but he still remains roughly the same.
You might also try searching for human pose references on this site if you need help with drawing poses.

Thanks...... Looking at all the Space Quest stuff, I think the box art for Space Quest I VGA will be the most helpful..... I think SQIVGA is probably Roger's most defining game.
I'll try to have that drawing done by next week.

It's amusing how terrified he looks, yet if I'm not mistaken, he's just taken down both the goons, so there's no immediate threat.

I remember that scene! Very funny- poor Roger's expression is perfect. You did a lovely job on the clouds, too; the texture is very realistic.

Thank you! I'm usually dissatisfied with clouds that I draw, but I was pleased with the way these turned out.

Thanks! A lot of the chat speak novelty has gotten a little old, but your use of it made me smile.

His hair is fun to look at...not so fun to draw. It's also a bit of an enigma, since it changes color halfway through the series, from brown to yellow.
