absolutely adore the composition and the *green*
this image really gives a feeling of impartiality/indifference - like I am never going to find out who the model is or 'are' if you get me - the model becomes several people in my mind - probably cos they remain hidden - could be anyone. I'll never no the shroud is an interesting visual device
sorry for the ramble, just inspired some words really!

The greens and the lady's face seem rather sickly (in a good way!) It gives the picture an eerie and unsettling feel. Not to mention the shroud over her face and her positioning.
Beautiful shot!

It's really interesting, great cropping and negative space.. Can't believe you get those intense colours without digital alteration, is it crossprocessed?

alright, but are your analogue photos this colourful too? and if so, how do you do it? Do you develop your own colour prints?
π: 0 β©: 1
akyros In reply to caltha [2004-06-01 12:42:52 +0000 UTC]
it depends...some of my film prints are this strong... but this place does have really intense colours.. our garden's gorgeous at this time of year. i dont develop my own colour prints...my school only has b&w facilities...how about you, do any developing?
π: 0 β©: 1
caltha In reply to akyros [2004-06-01 16:19:38 +0000 UTC]
It's just that, according to my experience, even when a place has very intense colours in reality it's hard to capture on film... But of course, that depends on the film and developing, I send my films to such cheap crappy labs...
I develop all bw myself, I've done some colour prints as well but not regularly since it's cheaper to let a lab to it, and it takes so much time to do it myself in complete darkness without any developing machines.

this picture stands out because of the composition/cadrage...
the subject placed there where it is now is nice to see... it looked cool in thumbnail, but seeing it in a larger version some details appear, e.g. the 'head + eyes + face' underneath the thingie... sinister? i dunno... i like the variety of greenz in it...

it's clichΓ©, but it's not the type of camera that counts... it's the photographer itsself...

i agree. often the camera jus embelishes any talent you have...the poeple who make amazing photographers IMHO just have that natural sense of good composition, structure and subject

I agree, it is sinister. because at first, I thought she was looking down, and then I looked at the handkerchief and I saw her face looking through it and it gave me a bit of a chill.
I like the colors and tones you've been using lately.
