Thanks very much. I painted it from an old black and white of my sister when she was a girl.

Thanks so much. I appreciate your support. The girl in the painting is my younger sister who is now almost 60. I painted from an old bw photo. She grew up to become a nurse. She still loves all animals passionately!

I love the way you have painted the lower part of the door, to the right of your sisters head (your sisters left). Also the bricks to the right of the stairs. But then I love textures like that. The face and hair is very good too - you've really managed to catch the expession in the face

This is great. I'm awed at the likeness, she's very original and recognizable. I love her thoughtful expression and the highlight on her red hair, the way she's so rounded and lively. Even her jeans and jacket look real. It's loose but everything went where it was supposed to in this painting, from small facial details to the cracks in those worn boards and steps. A second look and I can see how half of that gets created in large strokes that just happen to fall exactly right. Awesome.

Thanks so much. I am proud of this one. My sister is coming to visit in two weeks so I plan to give it to her then - this was painted from a small black and white snapshot taken in the 50's when she was about 10 years old or so. I am really lovin' your compliments on this one.

She ought to be ecstatic. I'm in awe of the way you can render people in watercolor. I have no problem doing portraits in dry media, that was how I made a living in the 90s. But my few attempts at watercolor portraits were ugly, clumsy and awkward, to the point people who loved my art were laughing. So was I, it didn't hurt my feelings. I have a few ideas but they have to gel before I really feel ready to do one.

Thanks. I hope my sister likes it when I give it to her after I have it framed.Painted from an old photo when she was a young girl. Now she's on the far side of 50.

Thank you for appreciating the mood of this painting. My sister was and is a very lonely , sad person.

Aww. Cute. I love the surroundings in this painting. The arms are a little awkward to look at, and I can't quite tell where the rest of the lamb is...but over all I like looking at this watercolor.

Thank you very much for your comments on Farm Girl; you are precisely right about the arms. I did some correcting on the original and am not pleased with the results either.
the arms definitely need to be improved. I will probably do more tweaking to it before sending it to my sister, as I painted it for her.
