Description
An Andorian character for a possible upcoming comic collab with my husband. I'm totally on a Trek kick, so this artwork trend may last awhile. I don't get off trends easily.Just a character sketch to get the feel of how to draw her. I even slapped some quick color down with my prismas. I would have used copics, but apparently they melt higgins black magic ink like butter and that's what I used for the ink work. I need to invest in a sturdier ink that will stand up to the markers, because I love my dip pens. Multiliners just aren't the same.
Anyway, I'm diggin' the dreads... I think they're gonna stay, with maybe some color changes here and there. Red can be a distraction. She may not be in command, either. Might make her security or some sort... Who knows. She doesn't have a name yet.
EDIT: Okay, she has a name now: Lt. Larhei Sh'Talh. And she's Chief of Security (obviously there will be a uniform change in the final draft, as she's wearing the wrong color now).

Lovely looking Andorian! I've always pined for some cute Zaldan-girl fan art, or more presence in the Trek films & TV. They look exotic with their webbed hands and feet!!

Thank you 😊 Maybe when I get back to obsessing about Star Trek I'll make a Zaldan character.

I love the red streaks in her dreads! Andorians are so much funm, it's a crime we didn't get to see more of them (outside of ENT.) You're a great artist.

Thank you very much. And I agree, their later designs make them look really cool.

I absolutely love this hairstyle! It gives a perfectly alien sort of feel. I must see if I can reproduce this as a 3d model...

I love the design, and it is helping for the design of my own Andorian character. I still cannot deside where I want to put those darn antennae - the front or the back of the skull. Hmmm.
But, and I'm sure you've heard this before, as it is a sketch that was submitted months ago, but on a nerd commentary point, her last name should probably be Zh'Talh, as she seems (at least to me) a bit too feminine to be a shen.
But other than my geek out moment, I think she's much better than the 3-D rendered obscenely-endowed Andorians I had to sift through to get to this one.

I can't help but politely disagree. Pava Ek'Noor sh'Aqabaa from the Starfleet Academy comics and the Titan book series is VERY feminine (She's got huge... tracks of land...).
The only gender I remember a clear discussion on appearance and gender was a comment about Shar who was said to appear more androgynous than anything else.
That said, I'd love to see more Andorian artwork, figure out that ages old quandary and lets see yours!

Well, I will admit, she does have a pronounced jaw now that I look at her. I had always heard there were the two genders that looked "normal" (masculine and feminine) and the other two were androgynous. Just goes to show how many varied opinions there are about a race of fictional people.
Well, I have always had a hard time uploading art (lazy) because most of my art isn't digital (lazy), and I'm not very good with a camera (lazy). Fortunately, this time, my little doodle of my character I'm soon to start running in a ST campaign IS digital. Wonder of wonders. I suppose I should actually upload art to an art site for a change. ^-^;;
[ I'm just glad someone's in my ballpark of nerd-dom ]

You'd be surprised how far into that park I land. I'm a HUGE TrekLit fan. Waiting with baited breath for the Typhon Pact books to come out.

Neat. I'll check it out.
Now, before you get carried away, I have been told I know absolutely nothing about Star Trek. By my mother. Who can wipe the floor with my ST knowledge, but I suppose I know reasonably more than the average joe...ett? jane?
My friend Jen does a play-by-post thing because she can never make it up to the store to play, so yeah, it'll be interesting to at least scope out. Thanks!

Here is what I have to say to you about your trek know how:
You know the difference between a Zhan, Shen, Chan and Thaan. I don't know many people who could do that, at least not that many who aren't on TrekBBS.com
I'm sure you'd do fine if you joined up. We're all pretty nice people and very rarely bite. Okay, we do bite, but only when we're hungry.

Diggin' it Love the dreads. Check out my gallery - that's my character, wish I could draw instead of just doing photomanips.

But I can't draw worth a damned, I'd much rather be able to draw. I can't whip out a computer and do a photomanip in a park or at a bus stop! Sigh.

Wicked, I love the dreads, really great idea. She sure looks like she could be a security officer, she has that don't-mess-with-me-look in her eyes. Keep up this trend, I love your Star Trek works!

I'm an absolute fan of this! I think this character design is easily one of the best I've seen for an Andorian (or any sci-fi character) in a long, long time.
She is quite beautiful, and the choice of hair styling adds a rare flavor that enhances her exotic alien qualities.

I've played a lot of Andorian characters (Kressari, Bajoran, and Romulans too) over the years (and still do), so if you ever need inspiration for names, I'm willing to help if it makes pre-production a tiny bit easier for you.
