I did an ink sketch from a photograph when the first LOTR film was out, here's the sketch: [link]I've been trying to get round to colouring it for years and decided this week to get it sorted. Done in PainterIX, 6 hours.

Thanks all for the comments. I'm really pleased with the eye, ad for once that was probably easiest on this pic to do, I think by keeping the white of the eye slightly grey, the white highlight worked a lot better. The hardest part was the chainmail, tried so many ways to get it right, before I got something that worked.

thats turned out really nice. love how uv got detail in a few places but just kept the suggestion of it in others. great pallette too

Cheers Chris, this was what I was working on the other night while we were chatting. Think I'm starting to get the hang of soft and hard edges and when to use them, on portraits anyway. This is another one off the todo list!
