Description
I decided to make all of my future entries in color, since I don't use color often enough. This one took about an hour, using pencil and Graphitint pencils. You can view an updated version here [link]

Thanks. I keep resisting the urge to use a water wash on the Graphitint, because it is drawn on cheap sketch paper. Will have to transfer it to a better grade of paper to really work it.

That is a nice sketch! I think the anatomy is great, and the facial expression really fits with the gesture here. Great job!

Thanks a lot Nick It's time to step it up, or I may never get a job at Marvel/DC.

You've got the right determination, and a good start artwise. Don't forget about independent publishers too.

I appreciate the words of encouragement I would love to work for Image also, but they are more of a publishing service. They don't hire artists, but publish books for writer/artist teams. Don't know too much about Dark Horse, but they've put out some great stuff.
I need to work on my backgrounds, just need some more reps. I've concentrated on figures mostly, but I do enjoy background drawing. Problem is, I can get caught up in drawing backgrounds, as I'd like them to be perfect, and that is time consuming. So, hopefully I can find a method of drawing backgrounds that is fast and provides a convincing result. I suspect more reps in this area will help a lot. To that end, I'll be inking the samples from Gary Martin's book.
