Description Didn't plan to draw this initially, but after I uploaded this some commenters wondered how I'd Mesozoic-ify certain supporting My Little Pony characters. So I whipped this drawing up that takes into account those characters and a few more besides (including Luna in her regular form). Besides, I did want to draw a therizinosaur Zecora. Does this mean there will be more of My Little Maniraptor in the future? Probably not as a regular thing, because these are much more time consuming than my usual works, but admittedly these characters are fun to design, so no promises to anybody.

Various notes and observations:
-Pterosaurs launched by vaulting into the air, while birds launch by jumping. How would Gilda (with the front end of a pterosaur and the hindquarters of a theropod) launch?

-Yes, there were testudines and alligatorids in the Mesozoic, but I wanted to shake things up a little, so we have Simosuchus-based Tank and champsosaurid Gummy.

-Zecora being a therizinosaur is a nod to all those zebra-striped therizinosaur restorations, as well as her initially strange demeanor in the show.

-Luna is raising her wings too high for any non-ornithothoracine maniraptor, but who says she only has non ornithothoracine traits? (And she's essentially a physical goddess so she can screw the rules.)

I suppose that the everfree creatures are now huge theropods like tyrannosaurs, carnosaurs, megalosaurs, spinosaurs and many others

I'm guessing that Winona & Owlowiscious are Araripesuchus & Anurognathus, respectively (Am I right?), but what about Opal & Peewee?

Close enough! Opal is a varanid and Peewee is a wukongopterid. I've drawn an adult "phoenix" (Philomeena) here .

"Close enough!"

Cool beans!

BTW, in reference to your Gilda question, maybe like Padian's bipedal pterosaur (I especially like this reconstruction as a Gilda analog: [link] ).

When I saw Zecora, I figured it was indeed a reference to therizinosaurs always having bold stripes. Very clever - I love it. And actually, that's a legitimate question I have - do you know why it is that they're almost always striped? if there's any real reason, of course.

Oh, and I love how you stuck Derpy off to the side, there. Daaawww.

To my knowledge the striped therizinosaur meme was started by paleoartist Luis Rey , though I'm not absolutely certain.

Ah, I have a book by Thomas R. Holtz, and it's illustrated by Rey. And the therizinosaurs in there are indeed striped.

Aha, me too! I love it for the art and nice skeletal references, but it also has a great index in the back with name, size, taxon, location, etc. for species. And it's so easy to understand. It's really awesome.

And the author updates the list on his website every year, which is the icing on the cake.
