Edit: Got more specific with the name origins. Sorry if I offended anyone before.I'm going to do these with each character that comes up that warrants it, no matter how brief their appearance. Unless they are a background character, like the raptors in the background of the previous page, or just a random character that is spoken to once to help plot devices, they will probably get one of these. It will probably be an image that is already created.
I don't know if I'll post the spino yet.... Though you've seen it, I haven't exactly said what it's purpose is so I'll probably wait on that.

I usually go for languages I like. For the dinosaurs I use a lot of Native American names, Aztec names, etc.

When I named my razorback musk turtle, I named him after the word for turtle in Choctaw- "Luksi" which were the tribe in the region the species is native to. Native american words can be so cool!Β

This is nice, but which native american language does their names come from specifically? :/
I ask, because putting the origin of their names as "native american" is kind of like saying that their names are "african" or "european" without specifying if the origin is swahili or french.Β

It's up to you. A lot of people seem to think Native Americans all speak the same language, so I try to bust that myth as much as I can. Giovanni could technically be referred to as a European name, but for those that know Europe it's glaringly Italian and has nothing to do with most European nations.Β

Ah, that explains it then lol, most people don't know. Aquene means peace in Wampanoag. In Mohawk, peace is Skennen and fire isΒ Oetseira. Pretty much every tribe has it's own language. Algonquin is actually a blanket term for a bunch of nations that formed an alliance against the Iroquois and their languages are closely-related enough to be somewhat mutuallyΒ intelligible.Β
