After I saw some of the trailer videos of Mario Kart Tour, I think that outfit can be a great costume for Toadette. Just fan made idea though.

I think that the Mario world lack world building as the Pokemon world...
Because it is a popular serie, the creator doesn't care on world building and discorvering the quirks. All they focus is the marketing or fan-service.
Pretty much the reason why Peachette look like Peach rather than Toadette.
Not to mention the lastest Mario plate-form game take the same formula... It's the same thing again...

Agreed! That's one of the things I wish that the main Mario games had. The series completely lack of a lore that could potentially make the series more interesting. The role-playing games had more depth stories and it enhanced the experience as a whole.
Many would say that it's not needed but since I like the series a lot I wish it was more than what it already is.
Yeah, the 2D games feel like a stagnated formula. They have to find a way to make it feel fresh again. I suppose they don't want to risk it since it's doing well that way but still...

Yeah, I think so. It's the concept of a character turning into a girl what made this to be what it is. If Toadette had a regular power-up, nothing of this would have happened.

Thank you! The dress would have served as the power-up, as many other suits do, so no that pointless. This would have been a better workaround than creating one variation of Peach to utilize these moves.

Maybe, but still there would be no reason for her to just get a new dress, It's just my opinion though, I understand where you're coming from here, since it was surprising to me too how Toadette became Peach in the trailer but I really loved how adorable Peach looked in the dress too despite being not exactly her but a Power up for Toadette.

I'd have preferred Toadette to stay as Toadette. This power-up just swaps to a different character and I find it to be a lazy move.

Same, but at least, according to the trailer, it can be ignored and avoided similar to the white tanuki leaf so we can still play as Toadette original. 
If Nintendo wanted a princess for people to play as, I would say it's a lazy move compared to doing something like have Daisy playable instead.Β

Yeah, If I play it I won't pick it. I am hoping that the crown isn't that intrusive. I'd love to play as Toadette using other power-ups.
Daisy not playable was a missed opportunity. They could also made Peach itself unlockable as they did in Super Mario Run as well.
