I'm in a endless cycle of updating my reference sheets and this time, despite only being about 2 years between, I remade Karelle's. Technically Vharga and Khadri are in more need of an update but Karelle is my poster girl OC so gets all the love. Last time I did her sheet, I had yet to upgrade to Clip Studio Paint and had a smaller monitor. Those two things alone are responsible for a boost in my lineart quality from end 2021 onwards.

While the old sheet was good, I didn't get her face right, even by standards of the day. In the end this one felt more like a redraw of the 2021 version so it's not a major overhaul. But there are lots of small improvements in line and texturing that add up. These days I avoid overtexturing with shading and creases because it would just look pointlessly scratchy and overblended. You can imply volume and shapes with clear use of light and the right line in the right place.
