Description
This is how the Danube looks at a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius. In the left side of the shot, you can see how all the river's bank was frozen along with the trees roots. The best part was that I took the shot sitting above the Danube, a frozen part of the Danube more exactly, but under my feet was a lot of water. The shot that you're looking at is among my very last ones that I've took in 2014. In fact, it was taken one day before New Year's Eve. I gotta admit that it was freaking cold outside, but it totally worth freezing for those shots. After I got home, I drinked some mulled wine that got me back to my senses. Enjoy!Related content

Very pretty shot! I really love all the colors in this. Sometimes your drive to take a few awesome photos is more powerful than your senses. (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ I feel like there is a true sense of accomplishment in things like that!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Indeed it is! I'd photograph the South Pole if I'd have the occasion, without thinking about the cold that I'd have to bare. The pleasure of photography has no limits.

Thank you! Super nice! I've searched for your town and it looks very nice! I've also seen the Danube and its width is very small compared on how the Danube is here. I think that when it passes along my city, it has the widest distance between it's banks. I mean, here it has around 1 kilometer between banks.

Thanks, it really is a beautiful city
1 kilometer?! Wow, that makes it a stream in Ratisbon

Thank you so much! Yes...the whole river bank was like that. I've felt like in fantasy story.

Thank you for your story to go along with the shot, I love when artists do that!! You took a beautiful shot, the one thing that surprises me is the Danube is not frozen too!! The way the ice froze on the bank and tree roots is really beautiful!! Thanks for your submission to the group,

The pleasure is all mine! I like to describe my shots a little bit because every photography has it's story and I think that when people read it, they feel closer to the place or the person that has been photographed. The Danube frozes too from time to time. A few years ago, people were actually walking on it and they used to go pretty far from the river's bank because the ice was very thick. It was my pleasure to submit to your group! Thank you so much for your nice comment and for appreciating my work!

True! I heard there's been a lot of controversy with the webcams being removed DX I think it's a shame, and I hope dA will listen to their users and restore it

Looks really cool! Was it weird to sit on a frozen part to get this shot? I'd be pretty scared to be standing over that much water!

Many thanks! Well, it wasn't very weird because I tested it with a big piece of wood first to see if it resists and I jumped on it without my camera/lenses/tripod just to be sure that they will be safe. The ice was pretty thick and it was alright. I was more careful not to fall in the water because the surface was very slippery. Even for my boots that have a lot of adherence. But here I am safe and sound.
