From his expression I get a feeling of a good soul, he is calling out for freedom and a sense of longing. The crows bind him, and curse him, pecking away at his true self. They twist the shell of his body, keeping his soul locked away deep inside, possessing him and distorting his sight, causing him to prey on those around him. At the same time, I feel there is a connection to him and the crows, perhaps a connection that turned awry in some way. Just my interpretation

Here is a story for you
There is an old story from Norse mythology. It is said that when a child its fate is spun before its first breath. However when a child is born still its fate string is woven but unclaimed. If the mother of the child has another child it is possible for it to grab onto both its own heart string of fate and the string of his unborn brother or sister. This child is destined to be a skald and a teller of tales. With the burning fire of new life it is destined to be a warrior and with the quiet knowledge of one who can speak with the ancestors and the patience of being unable to act the child is born of two hearts. The two natures will war for the heart and mind of the child as it grows and lives and turns into a man. The greatest war the man will ever face is his own nature but, this nature will also make him a wise man worth seeking for knowledge and a great warrior at the side of any nord. This is the destiny of a skald to be born of two and live the life of two, fighting oneself and being sought by their entire clan for what they are.
