We've had some pretty weird characters in AFL, but this one may top it. A cube? How does it fight, and others fight her/it? Does shed form a human form out of all the cubes she can generate?

it's not a simple cube, it's a cosmic rubik's cube!
so yeah we'll see what ruby does with her abilities when she (yes the cube is female) has
to use them to fight! i'm sure she has some ideas of what she would transform into

I'm just saying. Maybe having a 'default' human form may help other artists...otherwise they will just draw a small cube repeatedly getting smashed to bits lol

well, if there will be some kind of entrance comic like in the past afls, i will show a little of what she's like and if there
isn't i might do one anyway. however, i kept ruby's power description pretty vague on purpose, because i don't want to
limit myself or my opponents in creativity. for me, a fight was always about coming up with cool ideas for the opponent's
character aswell, so if people can't think of anything better than smashing a cube to bits, that's pretty much their problem. XD

Haha true. If your opponent doesn't come up with a creative way to defeat you or use your character then they will be at a disadvantage, but in a way your opponent could even end up being more creative with your character than yourself!
there will be an intro comic, so it will be a good showcase for the possibilities. I just think, like shapesshifters and aliens/robots that can transform in film and comics, they all usually have 1 default humanoid form for others to relate to.
the strength is in the character is the creative possibilities, but for such a sophisticated life form, why would she remain as a cube for most of the time? Will she appear like this the majority of the time? If not, then should her reference reflect this? I'm just saying, if people do just draw her as a cube, then you can't complain too much, and you are sort of asking other artists to be creative and do the job of selling your character for you.
a brave character choice, and I look forward to the intro to see how this character will work. I think it could be risky, but could also be brilliant!

that is actually what i am always hoping for! i don't want to sound
selfish here, but if there's someone who's more creative than me,
i see it as an opportunity to learn and develop my ways of thinking
and creating ideas. so i'd be glad if someone comes up with something
more creative than me!

well i guess less is more and beauty lies in simplicity, haha. and if you were born
a cube, why would you want to be something completely different? I mean
did you ever wish for being an octopus instead of a human? XD
but i get what you mean and no worries, i'll make sure my opponents will have
enough material to work from, including alternative forms!
well, no risk no fun! there's plenty of characters with limbs 'n stuff, so maybe it's
time for a cube to rock the show
