Great visuals as always - I wonder whether EVE will be a permanent addition to Oblivion's storyline, or will she just last for the D.U story?

lol, what?
i don't shit money, you know? and buying a console means you have to do so in order to get games, because xbox games are fuckin expensive...and i can only use it for playing with a controller that doesnt even allow precise and fast aiming so i play with my beloved pc that also allows me to work on and watch porn

alecyl In reply to DsLEFTHAND [2011-07-23 00:24:54 +0000 UTC]
i'll rather stick to crysis
besides porn, the pc is still my favourite tool and gaming platform.
simply because i grew up with it (and consoles) and know how to build them from pieces, which gives me the possibility to get a pc that fits my personal needs.
with a console you get a box that can read discs and has a plug for a gamepad, thats it.
yeah i know ps3 has blu-ray, but it's still a waste of money in my opinion. you buy it for hundreds of bucks and cannot actually upgrade nor work on it and you gotta wait years for the next generation.
which is also a problem for game developers, the recent generation of consoles is totally outdated and needs to be updated to be able to deliver the same quality as the pc can.
and still the games are at least 20% more expensive than pc games are (here in germany).
aside from that it's simply that i've grown to hate gamepads.
i don't know why everybody likes them because playing a first person shooter with it is a pain in the butt. i mean, without the implemented aiming-aids a console gamer wouldnt hit anything at all (yes i know in some games you can disable those but i believe there are still "basic" aiming-aids that are always running in the background)
just go on youtube and watch a dead space 2 or resident evil 5 or any other 3rd/1st person gameplay video...it's ridiculous how much time people spend with gamepad aiming.
those games were extremely easy on pc (at least for me, on highest difficulty) because i could aim MUCH faster than the console guys could. (i guess dead space 2 was developed for console and then ported to pc and the developers didnt pay enough attention to the gamepad/mouse difference, because it really was way to easy on pc...)

yea i totally get what you're saying... in comparison the pc demolishes the consoles hands down in all categories... the i7extreme processor is amazing!
as you said, the fact that the pc is so versatile makes it that much better... anyone, with the right know how and money (cause it sure is expensive) can build a pc from scratch to fit their specific needs (gaming, 3d development, programming etc)... personally i think its much cheaper in the long run to play on console (doesn't mean id love to start playing on pc ) you put down the 300 - 400 for the console and then the, slightly outrageous 60 per game to play BUT to build a high powered pc it'll cost you 1.5k with all the good stuff, but then you have to worry about your specs coming outdated then have to dish out more money to keep with the times and up to date on the requirements for the game (cause hell, you know you're gonna want to run the game on extreme settings!!)....
and yea the consoles get outdated but if you look at the graphics on games that came out right at release and compare them to now there's a big difference (due to new tech on the developers side)....
but, Nintendo's 5 year gap between consoles is over and the Wii U will come out with graphics to match those of 360 and ps3 and a processor said to overpower theirs... and Sony's 6 year gap between consoles will end 2012 so it'll be interesting to see what happens... after all, the new unreal 3 engine cant run on any of this gens consoles ^.^

alecyl In reply to DsLEFTHAND [2011-07-23 11:48:35 +0000 UTC]
if you compare it, the pc might look more expensive, BUT for a good gaming experience you need a good screen and tv screens are way more expensive than pc screens, that adds to it.
and of course like i said, the pc can be your gaming platform, your workstation and your entertainment platform. i mean most of the people who have a console also have a pc or a notebook and their consoles games are more expensive, so in the end they pay alot more.
btw, my machine is 2.5 years old and the only thing i had to upgrade so far was the hdd because i was running out of space.
i can play most of the recent games on high or extreme settings without problems.
well, actually most of it doesnt even depend on the pc you are using, the main problem that may slow your game down is the game itself because the programmers are lazy or simply lack the skill to code the game right.
the problem with the age of the consoles is, that the games we get on pc could look alot better by now, but since there aren't many pc-only titles anymore, developers have to work cost-efficiently, which means they make the game for the consoles and simply port it to the pc...and if the pc gamers are lucky, the developers deliver high res textures and special graphics patches like crytek did for crysis 2.
however i can fully understand why people are playing the more "fun" games on consoles, i think it's the right idea, but hardcore gaming titles, especially shooters on console? seriously that really sucks.
just let a console gamer with a gamepad fight a multiplayer match against a pc gamer with a mouse...i'd bet ALL my money on the pc gamer

haha yea, hd tvs are WAY expensive, esp if you want to play 1080p and now in 3d, seeing how the games now are coming out 3d compatible
and yea, it does kinda suck that the graphics on the pc games arent any better, cause they can def be much better, but like you said its all cause most of the pc games are now developed for consoles, and there are very few pc specific games (the ones that are are rts or mmorpg) - and thats where the consoles lack, playing an rpg or rts on a console sucks, there are way too few buttons and it just doesnt compare to pc... though, i do gotta disagree with you on how the controller is awkward to use for fps, its very fluid if you ask me.. though, ive been playing that way for 10 years now, and if i was to turn to pc gaming for fps id def use a usb controller to play them (i think its easier to move around with the sticks vs the wasd or the arrows).... BUT like you said, with a mouse the reaction time and the swiftness of moving the reticle around will more than often beat anyone playing with the controller

i got a small tv from panasonic, its 15 years old now i think and i will stick to it until it breaks because its all i need
i grew up with online shooters like counter strike and i still got it in my blood although i didnt play it for years.
but the shooters of the last years are all too easy for me, even on hard or higher, simply because with the mouse i can aim so fast and precise...i once played darkness on xbox360 and it was really hell to play with the gamepad even after hours i had trouble aiming at stuff and headshots? well lets not talk about this
and the wasd are again a huge advantage to controllers because you can handle much more commands with one hand while the other one is used solely for aiming and shooting.
which means that i can use my left hand for movement and actions like reload and so on and the complete right hand goes for aiming and shooting with the mouse (depending on the model you got) has a couple of extra buttons aswell.
this way you don't need ingame inventory wheels for weapon changing or item selection or whatever and can concentrate on actual pwning XD
with a gamepad you only got your thumbs to aim and then the aiming is done on a very small area, which makes it automatically less precise than with a mouse, so it's really nothing for me.
i really like a fluent gameplay and having to argue with the gamepad is something i really don't want to do.
i know you can get accustomed to playing with these, though and there are people out there who mastered fast aiming with gamepads aswell, but the gamepads are at a disadvantage to mouse/keyboard at shooters/rts/mmo, so theres no reason for me to get used to a gamepad if i can use the mouse instead XD
btw, i really wonder why at least microsoft doesnt bring a gaming mouse for the consoles, i mean there are keyboards for consoles around and this way they could convert some pc gamers to console gamers.

yea, i fell as though we are both not going to be moving anytime soon on which is better suited for us the controller or the mouse/keypad lol... but truth be told, id love to get back into pc gaming, i used to play a game called deadly tide way back when and loved it, and then a racing game p.o.d before i ever had a console, for a lot of people (me including!) pc gaming was what got them into gaming... and then diablo 2 got me back, now i am waiting for diablo 3 to take me further into pc gaming... and yea, you got a good point, it would be really cool to see an add-on for their next console as a keyboard and mouse combo or something to bring their pc gamers to their consoles and try to bridge the gap between the two, esp if microsoft would up the anti on the graphics card and processing power for the next gen 360... they need something that will set them apart from the others... hell, Nintendo's Wii U looks awesome and is very ingenious with its tablet controller that can be used to play the whole game on or as an add-on for the games

well i think nintendo goes the right way in making a console that goes for whole-family-entertainment because this makes sense, but sony and ms only go for consoles because it's harder to pirate games for them. i mean basically the xbox 360 is a pc, with some tweaks you can even install windows on it.
and this is why i really don't like the new generation consoles. they exist ONLY because ms and sony can make more money with them as with pc games while most of the games would've done better as pc titles.
and someone like me who doesnt want to buy a console is denied a crapload of console-only titles because the "market" for consoles is bigger.
this goes even further by making some games ps3 or xbox360 exclusive.
and i really don't understand while console-gamers let themselves treat like this either. i mean a game is fucking expensive compared to pc titles, to use many of the features you need an internetconnection aswell and you cannot upgrade this damned thing.
oh and if you are buying a console when it's just been released, it is so damned expensive that you have to wait a year or two until it's actually affordable.
then the companies throw new and "enhanced" versions of the console on the market and people who paid a crapload of money for the original consoles when they were released have to buy them again to get that exra performance.

DsLEFTHAND In reply to alecyl [2011-07-23 19:39:47 +0000 UTC]
haha yea, i know the feeling... i bought my 360 right after they lowered the price from 400 to 350, but i still payed 400 cause i wanted the special halo 3 edition ^.^... but that only had 20gb of memory on the hard drive (and it was still prone to the overheating issue of that gen of the consoles) which is nothing, now the new 360 slims are only 300 for the 250gb harddrive wich is pretty decent, and id have to say fairly affordable.. but youre right the 360 is pretty much a pc.. i can only assume itll be more so when the next gen comes out...but hey, its a market economy, they make them cause people (like me) will buy them (the only one i dont have is the ps3 but i do have a ps2) i may hold off on getting any other sony product cause the new one should be out sometime in the next year and a half and i dont want to pay for a console twice... but yea, the whole console specific games, halo is a 360 title, however the 1st 2 titles were later released on pc, and were very popular aswell on there, but not more so than the console.. its hard to say, pc gaming will always be there and it doesnt make sense why companies dont use the processing power and graphics cards to their advantage to make beautiful looking games such as crysis 2, it is really a great playing and even better looking game
π: 0 β©: 1
alecyl In reply to DsLEFTHAND [2011-07-23 19:55:58 +0000 UTC]
well there you got it, 360 comes out, you pay hundreds of bucks, then a few years later a better version comes out for half the price of the first one or even less.
this is simply unfair to those who bought the original console. they don't even get a discount for owning the old one. i think owners of the original console should be able to trade their old one in for a new version instead of having to buy the updated version aswell.
and since the xbox is mostly a pc it's even more unfair. when my pc lacks disc space i simply buy a new hdd, if it lacks graphics, i buy a new graphics card and so on.
but with the xbox you can't do that. and if you don't you may experience serious framerate drops.
i'm speaking with personal experience here. a buddy of mine played that game, i don't remember the title, but when fighting a boss, the framerate dropped so incredibly that it was actually unplayable for pc-standards.
and this was with a tv-screen, i'm not sure any console of the current generation could handle a 23" pc screen, coz its resolution is almost twice of full hd

DsLEFTHAND In reply to alecyl [2011-07-23 20:12:39 +0000 UTC]
yea it is a bit ridiculous... but i mean, the new 360 slim doesn't have anything new in it, they solved the overheating issue (and for the most part if your box was still in the 3 year warranty when it gets the red ring of death Microsoft will fix it for free) but as it is, none of the new gen 360 consoles have that problem... all they did was make the new ones quieter, sleeker, a little slimmer and changed the design of the hard drive.... that's the reason i like the 360 over the ps3, the hard drive is removable so if you run out of space you can buy a new one... or use a regular external hard drive as you would for a pc (the ps3 has an internal hard drive).... also, what makes no sense to me is when the new consoles come out you have to worry about whether its backwards compatible or not.. the 1st gens of the ps3 were but not anymore so all of the ps1 and ps2 games you have wont work (most of the orig xbox games do work but some dont) however they got smart and started offering the games as downloadable content (though at a cost so you've basically paid for the game twice at this point).... and yea, i notice that playing my 360 with an hdmi corde the graphics are far crisper than normal, but the bad graphics that look bad normally, just look worse lol and thats only playing it on 720p
