Some weeks ago someone asked why I preferred Chun Li's Alpha body over the modern one.

I like it because of the reason pointed in the comic. Because Alpha Chun Li is able to open bottles and jars that Modern Chun Li is not. She’s no bullshit. Even if we put magical powers aside, she can punch through skulls and kick through walls, and she can use high calibre guns img.photobucket.com/albums/v11… . That’s the body you’d expect from the best female fighter in the world. A lightweight tank.

I also like it because it is more proportionate. Her arms are stronger and her legs are slimmer with more defined muscles, making her look balanced. As a related note, the first thing I noticed when making the skin mod pictured above with the ‘shopped gun alejandro-mikros.deviantart.co… was that her hands looked way less masculine when coupled with her Alpha arms.

Also because Alpha Chun Li fits with the rest of the cast (the serious part of the cast, at least). When the template male fighter looks like this img.photobucket.com/albums/v11… , the current look of Chun Li is stupid. You can see there’s something seriously fucked up when her arms are barely thicker than Sagat’s toes img.photobucket.com/albums/v11… .

Also because the whole issue of her diminishing muscles smells of sexism. Characters like Kim Kapwhan or Hwoarang use punches much less than Chun Li and you don’t see them with noticeably weak arms. It smells of “Wait, Chun Li is supposed to be beautiful and she’s our female lead. We can’t give her those arms. Take all the muscles out from them and make the legs bigger to compensate. Guys will find the bigger legs acceptable, but they have to be juicy, so we have to put a bit more of fat on them, and we should erase the abs while we’re at it”.

So, the Alpha body is the one that truly belongs to her, and I don’t hesitate to call the modern one as “inaccurate”. The modern body is dumb, disproportionate, out of character and, if we look at it suspiciously, downright offensive towards women.
