Long tutorial is long. Again @_@... I have got to stop making such long tutorials. Originally it was even longer before I increased the width of the whole thing. >_>Anyway, my basic Lighting Tutorial! This is for all of you who have trouble with lighting and how to apply it correctly in your works. This is how I got to understand it so don't take me for a pro or anything, though, but hopefully, it'll be somewhat helpful.
All photos in it are © me so no ripping, please.

This is a very complete tutorial. Oh, and I didn't read it word for word, but you would call that lighting where color bounces from one object onto the next indirect lighting, or color bleeding.

Nope, no wall, I just used that image as a polygon for all the shading/lighting examples on a digitally made character. But I DO plan on remaking that first ever wall I made with her...dunno when, but yeah. xD

Haha, that's why I left AP - things just started to go downhill, and the rating system enabled all kinds of stuff to reach A and S ratings and yeah, like you said - the quality is pretty meh right now. Plus, I haven't seen any Admins there that used to be there in ages. o_o
I should focus more on original stuff of mine but too lazy, as well, lulz...plus, I always screw up the anatomy or the perspective somehow. OTL

...I think there still IS Session Zero there, it's just that since it's been removed from the front page, most newbies don't even know it exists so everything they submit goes straight to the main gallery. I don't even know if people still submit walls to that thing. >_>
Lol, yeah, been lurking there some time ago and noticed that Vampluva was now a shoutbox Admin or something like that. And I remember Fran saying how she reported a wall not too long ago only for an Admin to tell her she'd talk to the waller and ask them to remove it...instead of deleting it herself on the spot. I was like 'o_o' so, yeah...things are pretty much a mess there now... ._.
Well, if all else fails, I always go to the mirror and try to see how it looks like, lol. My mom found me one day doing some poses in front of it and was like '...the heck are you doing?' Research mom, research. xD

but then again....even with the crappy walls...there's hardly any submissions ^^ I remember when the front page used to only consist of wallpapers like 16 hours or less..now it's like....4-6 days or less

Yeah, exactly; nowadays, it's like they don't even care. Some of the walls in the gallery I saw there would've been deleted on MT ages ago. Such a shame, really, AP was the first walling site I joined and learned a lot from, to see it go downhill like that. ._.
And yeah, walls there last for 5 or 6 days, and even then there's hardly anything worthwhile to see. It's just Cilou mostly spamming the site with her stuff, lol.
Ahaha, I'm not a sexy female either, I just use the poses as refs, of course I make my characters/stuff much more smexy. xD Mirrors are evil. >_>

sure cilou's vectoring's getting smoother and smoother....but other wise its....I mean what do you expect when someone publishes 1-2 walls per week regularly :/
and now ratings higher than A can be obtained from merely 3-4 comments/faves or not event =3=

Yeah, exactly! From what I gathered, most members there are all newbies who had never tried to make a wallpaper themselves so they simply fave anything that seems appealing or popular at that time. I saw that on MT, too - I mean, what can you say to someone who faves Cilou's wall, then goes on and faves Nysha's wall and then goes and faves a wall done by a complete walling newb that gets deleted a few minutes later? It's like people can't distinguish between 'art' and 'fodder' anymore. And....yeah, I've seen walls with A+ with 5 comments and 4 faves and was completely speechless. Apparently, the number of downloads and how much 'in demand' wall is play a role but like I said in my journal there - people will download anything that's currently popular or has boobs/showing panties, no matter the actual quality of the wall while some walls that are really nice and HQ would practically go unnoticed for the most part. That's what was pissing me off the most. :/
Her vectors have definitely improved, but the main problem is still the lighting - it's like she simply refuses to look at how it works in real life and her lighting is thus, all over the place and rarely makes sense. This tutorial was also made with her in mind but I don't want to link it to her; I have a feeling she'd declare me her mortal enemy since she has already accused me of being mean and spreading negativity on her walls when I tried to point out her mistakes a few times. In the end, I gave up, lol. xD
Oh, I tried looking for them, too but in the end, I realized you learn best by looking at yourself in the mirror or simply taking a photo of your hands in various poses you need and then trying to draw them like that. :3

D: yes, there are even walls with no comments/faves but a rating. Then it's almost like people just randomly faves everything ): Nowadays 40+ comments are like...pretty rare already when it was fairly normal back in the day >.>

LOL but since thsi is on DA, i wonder if she'll ever get to look at it x.x also I think it might be because of all the positive reaction she gets with the "simply amazing and etc". The improvement rate is really saddening x.x
The other day I saw some comments akiranyo made on walls and it was pretty brutal xD, all true but brutal, I wonder how the newbies will take those comments nowadays, since no one give constructive criticism anymore, and really its a waste type those to some wallers because it'll just be in vain.
