Description I completed this needlefelted baby quokka last year as an exercise in rooting fur into a whole animal, and I'm very fond of him. I hope you like him too!

Media: Felting needles in various sizes. Merino & corriedale wool roving with dacron interior. Plastic bear eyes.

If you're interested in trying needlefelting I have a few beginner tutorials available for free in the resources section of my website: www.alene-art.com/resources.ht…

Enjoy!

Oh yes, I do quite a lot of felting (when I'm not swamped with work ). There are several other pieces in my gallery here, and I'm itching to get started on something new ... when the start-of-the-year rush has finished, and if I'm still alive at the end of it

Haha, I hope you certainly are! I know I disappeared for a few years (!!) but I'm still following your work, don't worry. Being a student of the sciences has made me very busy. But I've put up a self-portrait and would love your feedback on it.

What sciences are you studying? Uni can definitely take all of your time up... but then, so can work. I work in illustration, so I'm drawing all the time, but don't necessarily have anything I can post anywhere.
I've dropped past your page and dropped you a comment. I hope it makes sense. I'm just taking a weekend off after drawing 9+ hours every single day since Boxing Day. Back to the grindstone proper tomorrow, but I don't think a weekend alone is enough to get my brain back to full working order...

Oh my! I'm so sorry for getting back to you so late! I've finished school and am working as a medical scribe--well, actually currently unemployed since I just quit aforementioned job. So for now I am "fun-employed," as my friend calls it.

Well done on finishing school! I hope a good job comes your way soon (not least because everyone starts commenting on your lack of job (even when, like me, you actually have one as a freelancer ) and it can get pretty annoying!) Any good prospects?

I am hoping for a good job to come my way, indeed! In the meantime, I am "fun-employed," spending my time working on apps, running, and getting back into drawing. Good Lord, I haven't really picked up pencil and paper in quite a few years!

Holy cow! That's one of the most realistic felted animals I've ever seen. So cute!

Thank you so much! Rooting in 'fur' really helps with the realism, I think. He did not look at all realistic when bald, poor thing ( www.instagram.com/p/1_EdvBGAO_… ) and was the subject of derisive comments from relatives of apparently little faith.

Haha, I'm inclined to think quokkas just look like cuddly toys. They have such smiley faces (so this was a joy to felt, it made me smile back ^^)
