Description
Bogart and Bacall. This is from a publicity photograph for "To Have and Have Not", the only film of their's that I have seen so far.
I'm very pleased with how this turned out- I think it may possibly be my best to date, although it looks a bit better in real life- solid black never scans as well as it should.
I apologise for the watermarking. I wish I didn't have to do it, but I need to protect my work, just in case....
Materials: 0.5 lead #B mechanical pencil, 8B solid graphite pencil, kneadable eraser, plastic eraser, blending stumps, cotton buds, tissues
Size: a little under A3
Time Taken: probably about 20 hours
Enjoy!
Edit: A big generic 'thankyou' to everyone who

Wow. You are amazingly skilled that you could bring out so much detail with pencil. All the way from the sateen sheen of her dress and hair to the wrinkles of their hands and curves of their faces. Simply an amazing piece to look at!

Observation plays a large part in this sort of art - but then, I suppose it plays a large part in all art.

is that the movie where the man played by Humphrey Bogart was accused of murder and had surgery to alter his looks?..
it's a wonderful drawing, you really captured the difference in their skin

No, that's Dark Passage. Such an interesting film!
This film was their first together, but it's pretty hard to sum up (the mark of a good noir, I think. Their plots are always too convoluted to easily describe )
I'm so glad you like it, thankyou!

I don't think I could. If I don't draw for a couple of days, I get very grumpy, for one thing If it's any consolation, the plan is for me to become a professional illustrator, and keep drawing for years and years.
I'm so glad you like my work, thankyou!

This is one of their best movies, they got married a few months after production wrapped up. It's great to see them actually falling for each other right on screen!
Great drawing of them good job!
