These next few photos are part of a series I titled: "Extinguished Essence" This is the first one and two more to follow in this series.
I was going to submit these to the "Still Life" catagory but I figured people looking for the "Horror and Macabre" might appreciate these more.

I must say, this is a very wonderful piece! It gives the me the feeling of watching a movie, or perhaps reading a book in the beginning! Also, it looks like the Edgar Allen Poe covers for the stories.

great lighting for a classic macabre still "life". it is exactly as you would expect it to be. the watch is at midnight. the bell, "that tolls for thee." the candle with the smoke, and melty wax. need i even mention the "Funeral Customs" book? expertly constructed and composed.
i do think it might benefit from some added film grain, but that is entirely up to you, the artist. i also would love a more interesting background, maybe and apothecary's chest of drawers, or shelves with "samples" on them, or electrical stuff reminiscent of Frankenstein. most of that could be easily "faked" as it would be beyond your depth of field.
at any rate, a photograph very worthy of a DD and my fave. congrats and well done.

I haven't thought of what film grain would add to this or even a more interesting background. Although, I'd worry the photo may get too busy but with the right DOF it could work, I will keep that in mind.
